ok so these are my two options-

get a picotope with a 1 small goby in it

or get a 10/20 gallon mixed goby tank--

im not really sure if you can mix goby species but how many gobies could i keep in a 20gl tank with LR/LS and a shrimp

i was decideing from a whole buch of differnt species that i will list when i find it- but what do u guys think of the whole mixing issue-- because mixing is an issue with seahorses so thats where im coming from

im not completely new to saltwater but new to reefing
i have 9 dwarf seahorses and their numerous fry

Picotope tanks are like 3galls right?

When you say 10/20 gallon you mean 20g tank and 10g sump?

From what I have read/learned/seen you can keep different species of gobies but not oh the same type.

P.S. can you get some pictures of the horses I kind of want to see them :P .

so these are the goby species i was considering (note: im not putting all of them in there just a couple of them.. i just dont know much about gobies and i want ppls opinions on which i should get)

yellow watchman goby
orange spotted goby
orange stripe prawn goby*
catalina goby*
panda goby**
gold line goby*
green banded
dart goby*
black barred convict goby*
purple firefish**

ones with the stars i prefer/ two stars i really want!

so
also id get bunches of snails and a (pistol?) shimp for the prawn goby
live rock/sand
plants
(what are the specifications for a seaurchin in a home aquarium) because i take care of them at the zoo! they are a lot of fun to feed-

umm what else should i have

also im thinking 20 or 30 gl tank- idk yet

and if i can raise over 1000$ i might get a red sea max aquarium- 32gl beautiful aquarium its 600$ plus 150$ for the stand- so doubtful purchase but i got 200-400 already !!!!! moving my way up

I would not suggest a Panda goby or dart goby (alright if you don’t have large aggressive fish).

Purple firefish, yellow watchman goby, orange stripe prawn goby (the males look so cool), catalina goby, gold line goby, and black barred convict goby (the meanest looking fish very nice thou :D ) are good fish.

I would pick the orange stripe prawn goby over the yellow watchman for the pistol shrimp 1)idk how the watchman/orange stripe would act to each other 2) the orange stripe just looks cooler :P .

So if you where doing a 29 or 30 gall I would get the Purple firefish, orange stripe, catalina goby, gold line goby and barred convict goby (you might have to take one of thoes out).

Idk any thing about pistol shrimp so you would have to do some reading.

Like I said the same species of goby can not be kept together.
But I did do some reading after I posted that about the catalina goby and I learned that you can keep them in a small school (idk if that’s true or not :? ). :D

oooo ok- well i will research each thoroughly and then make my decision on which species to get-

also i will research which species can live in the same tank as erectus- in case i get them in the future

They may be OK in that range (I don't know - never kept them), but actual water temps off of Catalina Island at depth are regularly in the low 60s and even down in the 50s during winter months.

On average, you're about right. It may be longer or shorter depending on the amount of dead gunk in your rocks. Be sure to give them a thorough cleaning when you first get them.
