all my LR is a greenish color with coralline aglae on it. i really don't like the grenish color of it. does anyboby know of a way to white it up. my phophate and silcate are go so that not the problem. thanks in advice!!!!

what kind of rock is it? i have some rock that goes purple and some actually get more green. they are different types of rock.

is all your rock the same? and what kind is it?

can you post a pic?

i don't think it depends on what kind of rock you have, but what kind of algae is covering it. i'm guessing it's a new tank. if so, you'll have to wait a bit, and with proper husbandry, the green will disappear and the purple will cover.
if you want to turn it white, a long spined sea urchin will be a good addition to that tank. you'll never have another thing growing on that rock.

X is right, i forgot about that, i had an urchin that stripped my rock clean of everything. my rock was completely white with nothing on it.

what kind of light do you have and what is your calcium level?

isn't that generally bad? I mean you do want color on your rock dont ya? white means dead?

no. white means no coralline. live rock is live because of the bacteria on all surfaces, inside it, on the outside...it's only asthetically better when it's purple :wink:

I see. I always thought it was dead if it was white... by the way what is the purple and green stuff? an algea or something else?
