Harlequins can be mean fish. I doubt that your mystery wrasse would be threatened as it is much smaller/faster and can keep out of the harlequins way, but some slower fish and certainly all your motile inverts would be at risk.

harlequin tuskfish also can get really friking big. hope you have a large tank...

tusks are not an easy fish to keep. my buddy has had 4 and finally has been able to keep one for over a year. getting started they did not do well eating. there hardy rate is low and can be either very aggressive or not do anything back at all and die randomly. personally unless your tank is very established, id think again about this fish. not to mention price range is decently high for a non hardy fish..... dont let impulse get the best of you.

2-3 inch? thats really small for one. my buddy always get one about 4-5 inch and he has a 180. its an aggressive tank only. his eats all his snails/hermits/inverts and feeder damsels.

Yeah if your planning on upgrading wait til or if you do. You might plan on upgrading but everyone plans on upgrading there tank. That does not mean your going to in the next few weeks. Could be a year who knows. I would upgrade then wait a long time until you add a tusk. its not a rare fish and opportunities to get one will come again. Impulse buy because its pretty does not mean buy it. I like the ornate butterfly but I'm not going to run out and buy one cause of its looks. I know it most likely not thrive in my tank so I would rather see it in a lfs then my own personal tank.

I have also read that depending on where the tusk fish is from that can affect the durability. I beleive the tusks form australian waters are hardier than the tusks from the indian ocean. I am not a biologist so I am not sure how true this is.
