my tang wont eat seaweed... why?

I tried rubberband after reading this thread cause I am having same problem it worked a little but I think I have to be more persistent with it they still are not fully hooked

Imao I've had my tangs a little longer then you, and plus having another tang in there helps boost his confidence

My yellow tang likes the purple nori, it totally ignores green seaweed.

a little to late for my yellow tang, just found him stuck to my maxijet, didnt try the soaking of seaweed, but I need to do this for my Sohal.

I just started to hand feed my naso tang ,, I just have to hold my hand in the tank for. Cpl of mins ,, and then he swims by ,, picks at it , swims away and comes back again picks more,, until he just picks at it until it's gone or I move my hand

i did this too, but the problem now is that when i add frags he tries to nip them while they are in my hand but once i put it down he finds other interests. this wont work/or hasnt worked with yellow tangs cause of theres nervousness?

I see you're on Long Island.

Every time I go fishing I grab up some sea lettuce and bring it home. I keep it in my sump. My fish go crazy for it. Maybe your guy just doesn't like the dry stuff.

I'm in Coram. If you want to come get some let me know and I'll grab up a bunch next time I'm out.

All you really have to do is go to the beach. It's all over the shallow water, but I don't know for how much longer. This is my first year collecting it, so I don't know if it stays around all winter (or if I even want to venture out then).

Yeah, no problem-- I live almost across the street from Aqua Hut. I'll drop you a PM next time I get some-- I'm planning on going out on Wednesday, but that may change.

I've been feeding it since about April, and I've seen no adverse affects to either the fish or the corals. It does well in the fuge, too.
