omg hey die too. ohhh i didn't know that i would've never even touched a plug if i knew that. but on my 125 it was taking days before the fish even started breathing fast so i just did what you told me on my thread about ich and i drained about 100 gallons and i got 1 fish out but i still have 4 more because when i drained the water the mandarin dragnet went behind the rocks like right before i was able to catch him and i just heard him flapping and stuff but i have big arches and like lagoons i just made and i didnt want to take it down because i would never be able to make the rocks so good like they are now because i do have very low creativity and just this one time i was able to make something that i was amazed by but yea the blue hippo tang went behind the rocks even with 1 inch of water in the tank and these firefish are just ridiculous they dig holes in under the rocks and go darting around the tank in like a second. now im just getting mad and its probably not the best idea but im just not feeding them because im so pissed off at how much of a hard time they give me but i really just cant get these 4 out no matter how hard i try. i even tried to make them jump out but the one time i need them to they go hiding... i bought a $50 cover to keep them from jumping because thy wouldn't stop and now they dont even go to the top of the water. that made me even more mad. but now im going to try to make a fish trap and whoever i cant get out just screw them because ive been doing this for a weeks now and i cant hold off any longer with this ich. i have a friggin naso tang and yellow tang in a 10 gallon and i have to wait 3 months i just cant risk stunting their growth. im trying to get my hands on a 30 gallon because my friends brother is gonna give me a couple of tanks i just haven't seen him in a couple of weeks.
This by far the WORST suggestion I have ever read on MR.
The fish aren't 'fainting' they are SUFFOCATING to death from lack of oxygen.
Lack of oxygen to the brain DOES have consequences.

Aside from the incredible peril you are putting your fish in, I have to wonder how many of the pods and other critters died during this act.

yes i WISH i could just deal with it in the tank but its a reef so i cant use copper and i dont want to risk losing my copeod population and all the other invertebrates in the tank.
Sounds like your stressing the sh*t outta those fish. I'd rather deal with the ich in the tank ,then stress out a bunch of fish that way, you would have a better chance of them living!

I understand but sometimes we do WAY too much tryin to solve a problem that we stress the fish out too the point were they are not gonna recover. You have to understand that stress is a HUGE factor when it come to battling any parasites or diseases. Too much stress and no matter what you do the fish is gonns die. A naso and yellow tang, even in a 30, forgettabout a 10gal its only a matter of time before they are dead.

so then what would you recommend doing taking out all the coral and invertebrates and treating with copper in the thank?

You cannot treat a tank with copper without taking the real chance that the tank will never be able to be used as a reef tank (due to the silicone seams adsorbing the copper).
Some say it's ok, if you thoroughly clean the tank afterwards and use a copper remover a bunch of times until it comes back as 'clean', but I don't get the impression that you could totally empty the tank of all fish after you are done and clean it the way it would need to be cleaned.

Keep in mind to to that you would also have to take out ALL of the rock and sand and only leave the fish in there.

what about hypo salinity in the tank. i know you told me it was bad before but what if im willing to just restart. what dies inside the sand and rock that its going to be crucial because its only 2 months old and there was only 13 pounds of live rock and the rest was base rock that was just cycled with nitrogen bacteria.

Yes you could do hypo inside of the tank, you'd still have to watch the ammonia level daily and the sg (need to keep at 1.009 continuously).
If that is all there is in the tank, then I'd go in that direction.
Snails/hermits/pods will probably die, but if you could put them in a very small tank with a heater & powerhead you could get them through this alive -they don't carry ich.

well theres like 30 pieces of coral in the tank but i could definitely take that out. lol i wish i would've read this before i went to the pet store. i just got some copper and a test kit... oh well i guess ill just use it for quarantining fish in the future. but how long do i have to do hypo salinity in the main tank. and the bacteria will still live right?

You would have to do it for 6-8 weeks to be sure the Ich is dead.

You would spend 1-2 days lowering the SG to the level you need it..

Start at 1.024 - 1.020
12 hours later to 1.020 - 1.016
12 hours later to 1.016 - 1.012
12 hours later to 1.012 - 1.007
and that is where you need to keep it.

The tank should not lose it's cycle though you may lose some pods.
As suggested the inverts would need to be taken out - along with the corals - they cannot take such a low sg
