Hey Welcome to MR - Ignore the irrelevant posts above..Your not the first to be flamed and wont be the last. If this was someone in the MR everyday online members or someone with a higher post count on here it would have received way more attention and respect.

The guy asked a question - received an answer from albano [a good one]
OP asked for more opinions [whats wrong with that - 99% of us do it]- then he got a cocky reply [which is fine but im not sure why] - then OP defends himself [which is fine, but didn't have too], then a bunch of people attack/chime in with completely useless irrelevant replies.

not to mention some newbie adding comments and some everyday members
pretty embarrassing...

I would suggest going the artificial route instead of adding the real driftwood, I actually dont know much about driftwood but from albanos link and a quick google search i doubt it would be a good addition to a salt water tank.

I am not sure exactly what your looking to do but im sure something could be done to achieve the look you are going for.

Now, Think abou placing the driftwood above and its another story....
Heres a thread on nano reef, check it out , something definitely out of the norm. When i read your post it reminded me of this setup.

From what I have read it would be a bad idea. Some pH problems might occur as well as leaching of the oils into the water column. As a matter of fact some even say that driftwood in lower salinity setups like brackish water might be a bad idea as well.
