how do the corals look with the whites on only?????????????????

Actinic make them pop. But the corals look natural. Like the way they would in shallow reefs during the day. Great color rendition and shimmer. Very natural look. But ofcourse i only ran whites at 40-60% cause they too strong and blues at 80-100% to get that pop.

Will it light a 40g breeder mixed reef? I can also supplement with additional actinics.
Dims are 36 x 18.

Lmao!!! Um your better not run them at 100% or else you wont have anything else to light. LoL. They will def light a 40B. And if you have actinics supplement you are at the sweet spot. I rather have a sol white with actinics than a sol blue.

Do they need a specific controller or is their another way I can dim them?

They sell they're own controllers. But you can dim them with others. I have a reefkeeper for example that can dim them. Just about any dimmer can. Even one you make urself from rapidled.
