Here's what you should do IMO.

Since the initial cost did not increase and these were two freebies, you should:

1) Keep the ugliest one for your GB efforts & time. (organizing these things are not fun)
2) Donate the 2nd ugliest one as an auction with funds going to MR.com

We agreed that we will # all the clams, and then have everyone randomly select# from a hat. The # that person chooses will correspond to the clam the will receive. Spykes will choose 1st and I will choose last. Here is the order:

Actually Samsky idea is not bad but you can modify it a bit like this:

Steve gives back clam #1 (sorry Steve)

Do a "clams only raffle" so that it doesn't end up in a FOWLR tank.

Run two raffles, one for each clam @ $2 a ticket with the proceeds going to MR.com (you should get at least 20 tickets each judging from the amount of people attending)

An auction might be less productive since everyone realizes that the clams cost $38 a piece.

Do the raffles early on (along with the other auctions) for people that do not plan to stay the full event.

Whadda ya think?

Last resort, just give me the darn clams!

I hate organizing group buys, too much work for no reward. Some people don't even thank you for your time and effort, instead blast you if they don't like what they received.

That said, I think you should pool everyone's ideas and be as democratic as possible. I am pointing out the time issue because my wife tells me I need to be home by 5pm and I don't want to get screwed if someone decide not to show up on time or show up at all, there are a lot of flakes in the hobby.

Instead of doing the raffle, sell them the clams (put their names at the bottom of your pick list ) and you can either:
1. Keep the money for your effort and time (I know it is not much $$).
2. Donate the money to MR.com under your name.

I think this will minimize the work (no raffle tickets sales and calling the numbers) and still have similar $$ result.

Thanks Dude! I had bad experiences with my last group buy and told myself I would never do it again.... I received headaches and didn't even get all my money in some cases.... Whatever here I am again, I must be gluten for punishment....

To simplify everything if Jennie?s sister in law and drzl want in the clams will $36 each ($36.19 to be exact). Sorry I don't have time today to be diplomatic...

The grab bag will begin at 3:00 pm. If the person is not present during the time there name is called they will be skipped and choose after everyone else.

Steve from some one that has done many many group buys here the best way is sell off the extra clams to who ever cames first otherwise your going to get stuck with it or lost money on the buy yourself. This has happen to me on a # of buys so when I do a group buy I try and make it fast and straight forward and just do it as your going to always have people back out or not showing up. Can't make everyone happy.
