Hi Everyone!
I have a 150 reef tank with about 300lbs of live rock with corals.
In my tank I have a beautiful Flame angel. Ive had him now for a cpl of years he's never been sick eats any and everything you feed him. Everything was fine until a few months ago I added 3 Lyretail Anthias. He started flashing the male anthias and they continued this until the anthias died. He doesnt bother any of the fish that was in the tank before him. After that the flame decided he also liked to nip corals. He doesnt seem to be interested in most lps leathers mushrooms only candy canes and my pagoda cup. He very raerly nips the candy canes but he nips the PC several times a day.
Ive decided he needs a new home. If your willing to come catch him with out removing my lr he's yours free. Ive had one member of MR try to catch him but no luck. Ken used a tiny fish hook bated with shrimp but it didnt work. I dont know if you want to try with the hook Ken was nice enough to leave it or if you want to try with a fish trap?
If your interested let me know we can set something up for early next week.
Thanks
Patrick
Ps. I'm more than willing to send you a pic of my set up but I will need your cell# because my pc wont let me post pix.

you can use a 2 or 3 liter soda bottle as an inexpensive fish trap. the link shows you how http://www.reeftime.com/diy-reef-projects/diy-fish-traps/2-liter-bottle-fish-trap/3.htm

this has worked for me a couple times. If you really want to not make a mess in the tank, use a magnafloat to hold it to the front of your tank... fish swims in, then you either get a big enough net over the top of the bottle or turn the bottle upright with the magnet...

good luck

EDIT: the diagram in the link shows the neck of the soda bottle pretty close to the wide opening, when I've used this method I pushed that part as far into the bottle as I could. To stir the bait and cause excitement I'd use my 'turkey baster'

Ive actually tried this method the problem is my angel is flat so I had to cut the top part pretty wide for him to even fit in. Then all the other fish(with slimmer bodies) would just swim in take the food and leave.

partobe...

that's the reason I don't make the fish swim through the small hole... I just use the bottom inch of the bottle for bait (push that cut off top wayyyyyy down into the bottom) wait for the fish to swim into the big part of the bottle, then throw my big net over the top.... fish caught in the wide part of the bottle without a major chase....

the net that I use actually came from the Dollar Tree as a bug catching net. It's just a dollar store really, not sure if you have one local to you... look anywhere they sell super cheap kids toys... it's the right time of year to find one...

NOTE: I don't cut the mouth of the bottle off like they did in the diagram of the site I posted. I only cut the bottle about 3/4 of an inch below where it becomes a cylinder instead of a dome. Wish I could draw you a pic... sorry

The problem is the fish doesnt come out of the rocks when someone is standing by the tank so even tho your idea is a great one it wouldnt work on the fish.

this is what i did to catch my cherub angel when all else failed..i took a whole bunch of plastic produce bags from the produce section from pathmark and crunched it up to fill all the holes and crevices so he has no place to hide and used two big nets to coral him..hope that makes sense

If the 3 liter doesnt work or if someone doesnt catch him I'll give it a shot!
