This LFS is taking down a whole bunch of 75 gallon tanks and sellin them for 20 bucks. Just to let you guys know. They're drilled on both sides. Kinda in crappy condition but if cleaned up right, i think they'd be a good deal. No scratches or cracks.

right, it kills coral, and invertebrates can't stand it either.

bad stuff, if the tank was used for copper I would not use it for anything but fish.
the copper will become absorbed by the silicon.
maybe in acrylic tanks this is not an issue. I'm not sure how "sticky" copper is to different materials, but it's good to avoid it.

Hmm... well i remember that they used to keep their LR selection in these tanks so i'm pretty sure that they didn't use copper. Is there any way to look at the sealant and know if they used it (ie, a tint in the silicone or deterioration)

by the way, the tanks were REALLY dirty. I mean, there's stains all over the glass and the holes where they drilled it seemed pretty nasty. It's also not your regular black lined tank. It has a wood look. The tanks seemed to have been used for about 5-10 years so you can imagine. And it's not like they were wiping it down everyday. Would it be hard to clean this all up? As long as the tank isn't scratched or cracked it should be good to go right?

a glass tank can be cleaned well with some elbow grease.
if they are not scratched they should come out looking good.
it may take a while because you can't just go and use cleaning products on them.
just a lot of scrubbing and razor blades ;) fun fun fun.
