Your water quality would effect the colors more so than your lighting. Keep your nutrient level low and the colors will come through under almost any lighting.
Think of it this way. Just because someone uses 400w radiums does not mean they will have the same colors as Tom. He has a large established tank with great water parameters that aids in keeping his nice colors.
