OK Guys just trying to be as fair as I can . Since Jhale was the first to respond thinking they were 660's I've offered one up to him and the other person that wants a single ballast is Phil who responded after Mike.

So if Jhale passes then they are Mikes as a pair and then Tim (derm) and Montepora and so on...

I probably should have started a new thread but that wouldn't have alleviated this "sticky situation"

Next time I post anything for sale I'll make certain I take pics of the item first so I don't make this mistake again.

Since Jhale was the first to respond needing one ballast and there was another taker in Phil for the other ballast I've decided this is the best course of action even though I would prefer to sell them at once.

Of course I could have sold them to Steve since he is in the city today but as you know this is a small community and I don't want to alienate the community at large.

I brought them in so it's up to Jhale and Phil. I can meet anytime this week.

You know this is a 2 fold problem. If someone PM's you first then another posts thinking they are first here is the problem. I know common courtesy says throw a PM'd you in there but sometimes you OM and then throw the PM'd in there and it ends up second. They when you as the seller state the "line" people get offended and pull out. There has to be a better solution to this to avoid further confusion. Ultimately I think the first person sometimes is and sometimes isnt'

If you need a roadmap for my above statement 'll understand LOL I almost need one myself. But I hope you understand what I mean.

your right, it does get confusing, that's why this one had me stumped.

Up to this point we always went by the first person to respond in the thread. in the end it is ultimately up to the seller to decide. but to prevent confusion maybe we should make it so that no matter what the first person to post in the thread with interest has dibs, then so on. At least people would be on the same page and then it would be up to the seller to figure things out. so post first then IM? If anyone has a better solution let me know.

Not sure if I understand the confusion.....

If you post on a thread first, you are first. PM are for private info or if you want to be cheap and offer a lower price :)

Jon if that's the way it is going to be everyone will have to agree on it I guess. I also think sellers have to put time limits on responses as well. If someone gets in first and wants something but keeps a seller waiting for a 4 days or even a week without an agreement on the sale then the seller should be able to move on to the next person. BUt a limit should be stated in the sale. for example:

2 Clarki Clowns f/s. 30 each must be picked up by friday or next person in line gets item. ( I'm not really selling my 2 Clarki's just an example)

the confusion was the item changed from the description, but people still wanted it. I think this was a first, I never encountered this problem before.

I agree with what you said though.

Jackson as far as I understand as of right now that is up to the seller. Lets get it in print so there's no more confusion ever.

fyi, this is what our site rules state now,

Items for Sale:
First Post option: It is common courtesy to sell a priced item to the first person that responds publicly that they will buy the item with no strings attached. You are free to sell the item to the last person that responds, or not deal with specific individuals, but this is generally enough to earn you a reputation as a ?bad reefer?.

this has been posted for a while under the site rules thread.
