Thanks for the input. I am not totally dissatisfied with my current set up but I was thinking that a pair of AI Sols could replace the Halide and save a little electricity and upgrade the brightness. They say they are stronger than 250MH bulbs (an upgrade from my 175MH) and the extra light would...
Currently I am running a pair of 175w 14k halides and a pair of T5s 1 12k and one actinic. This is on a 120 with mostly LPS, a few leathers, and some Monti's. I realize that most folks would be using 250s but I have been having reasonable success with this combo. The debate seems to be color. I...
Went to Maximum Reef in Mount Vernon yesterday picked up a nice Oulophyllia and two frags Lobo and a Micromussa. If anyone is looking for Trachyphyllia or Wellsophyllya they had a ton of them, both red and greens and they looked nice.
I am sure some of our members are using natural sea water. Those jugs are Ideal. I wish you posted this 2 months ago I had 6 I could have given you. Check with your Local lfs they usually have a few laying around.
250 tops. Looking to keep some leathers, some zoos, maybe an anemone or a few LPS like Acans, torch ... you know the tough stuff. My main tank is a 120 so I don't want to divert too much funds from that. I know that sometimes these skimmers don't scale down well. The pricing on the two mentioned...
I was looking at these skimmers for my 25 gal cube. Any input would be appriciated. I think the construction on the Aqua Euro is a little better but they use what looks like a cheep pump. The Eshopps uses a sk200 Sicce Pump. They both are available in the 225 range.
I am currently running a Red...
I can not claim to be friends (wish I was) with Julian but I met him last year in Pennsylvania at a lecture and he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and a true icon in the hobby. I have followed his work form the reef notes days in FAMA. As far as I am concerned his three volumes are...
remove the elbows and use an 1 1/4 flexable hose from a pool supply shop or an old wet dry. at the top change the elbow to a tee ( in a sideways position) that will alow air to come in and increase the flow down.
Wow! I just went to lightexports.com and they have a great selection with fantastic pricing. Are they for real? Thanks for the tip. I will be ordering from them soon.
Just in comparison to some in the 500+ range that so many seem to talk about and like. I do think and stated that he may be better served looking at the Octopus line. the only true plus with the ASM is the availability of parts.
they are not Junk IMHO. they are inexpensive and are effective for the price point. there are better skimmers with superior construction and more efficient pumps on the market. the design is a direct copy of the euro reef with a mass produced poly body. it can leak but they are in sump only...so...
