I just found a maxi jet 600 pump that was putting stray voltage into the sump. Could that be causing my SPS to die off?
It sounds like it could be some type of bacterial infection. If the problem starts at the base, then you should try and cut off the base of the affected pieces and then glue the rest of the coral back to a rock. You could also make a few frags from it. This will at least give you a chance to save some of the coral.
I have also heard of GFO and possibly Carbon causing this type of problem if not rinsed properly or if too much is used or if a different brand is used from what you had been using.
Have you added any new corals to your tank recently? Possibly something not aquacultured (maricultured or wild caught)?
Thanks Jzhou, I stopped running GFO about a week ago and I'm pulling the plug on my carbon reactor as well. Lets see if it makes a differance.
I also dosed 2 interceptor tablets this morning.
