yea but i kind of have random flow on my tank now, youve seen my tank and my sps corals mike, what do you think. i have two of the pumps run off the controller that alternates every 3 minutes, so that creates random flow.
Don't get me wrong your tank looked great!! and your corals did to, but if I remember correctly didn't we turn the pumps off to take pics? Lol

Sorry I don't remember your flow and I'm not an expert on sps flow, all I know is that when I felt I needed more flow I added another MP10 and I love it.

If you think your flow is sufficient then just do as others have sudjested keep an eye on the sps and go from there.

Your also welcome to stop by and check out my tank if you want to compaire flow and see if it is similar.:wink1:

haha yea your right we did shut the pumps down. and to me it seems like the flow is great, i have PE on all my sps and i can see they are always getting random flow. but as far as growth contributed to flow who knows i know my growth isnt anything spectacular in my eyes but i dont really have anything to compare it to. so my growth might be normal and just sps grow really slow and thats it. who knows im not over thinking it lol i think the flow is good in my aquarium and all the corals are happy so watevs. but lets do some picture updates soon! i got you on some nice corals.

On my old 40B sps dominant tank for power heads I had: 2- mp10 & 2- seio 620. On PH alone that was about 4240 gph, I also had as a return pump a Dart pump. It was on an Oceans motion, it put out around 2000 gph. So that was about 6240 gph on a 40B , and the sps loved it.... I think.

I have a 120 tech tank pushing 14,000 gallons per hour in my system I have 2 mp40s pushing 3,500 gallons per hour (each) and I have a mag 18 as my return with head pressure I'm looking at another 1200 gallons per hour so my flow is insane in my system

How do you figure 14000gph?... You only mentioned 2 Vortechs and 1 Mag 18... also IMO, Mp40s are probably less than 3000gph each

I have 2 mp40s that push 3,200 Gph if u research you will find that I'm correct ,theirs no such thing of a mp40 producing anything less then that
While I agree that it sounds like you have decent flow in your tank...

FWIW...the 'published' flow rate of 3200gph, is for a brand new pump under 'optimum' conditions ... I don't believe there is an MP 40 anywhere that is actually pushing over 3000gph, not to mention that constant full power will shorten the life of the unit.
