Due to what i suspect was a light change, all my SPS bleached in the span of one day. I still left them in my tank out of laziness, but on closer inspection there seems to be little "strings" or polyps. The coral is mostly brown now, and no real visible signs of true polyps but im still holding out hope that it can revive itself. Has anyone ever done or witnessed such a thing?

yes, I got a piece of stag that was bleached.
it took a few months but the color did come back.
I hadto break off the bottom where it receded but now it's growing like crazy and is purple.
don't throw them away, they will come back just give them time.

GQ what was the light change? It's odd for a lighting increase to bleach everything in a day, usually it takes a few days or even weeks. Is it possible that electrical current leaked through the tank via broken heater or pump etc...?

Corals are technically immortal in the wild they can and do live for thousands of years as long as humans don't screw with them.

They have amazing recouperative powers, I usually don't give up on a corals unless it is white for an extended periods of time.

nothing wrong with putting it on the bottom of the tanks and seeing what happens, worse comes to worse you have another piece of LR in the tank.

Good luck,
Frank
