Sps dying. Please help if you can...

Do you think the sps that receded will grow over the dead skeleton or should I just clip it?

If its rtn'ing I would frag the good part but if it stopped receding I would just let it grow over. I usually leave the skeleton there and let it grow over it again

I would cut them but what it sounds like you won't know for sure what cause this. Possible temp swing. Have you see RTN stop or slowing down. I went threw this and it took a few days to run it course. As long your water par are stable you should see less RTN. Water change was a big help to start rebound.

It was never very fast to begin with.

Were you able to get your sps to bounce back?

Yes, they can bounce back as long water is stable. If all the condition are right you will see SPS grow from bottom as well as tips.

Are you carbon dosing? Or have pellets?

No. Not dosing anything...

Burnt tips are typically caused by an alk burn. If you dose carbon for example and have high alk you will get burnt tips. Not acclimating to the light likely affects the whole coral not just the tips. Is it possible that your alkalinity was unstable when the burn occurred?

0 Phosphates 0 Nitrates. You feeding anything to the corals, like amino acids.

But aminos aren't food, they produce a feedimg response, the polyps.extend allowing the coral.to.grab any foods from the water column. I feed my SPS reef roids, NLS nutricell and phytoplankton. Rotifers and bbs also.

I didn't notice any alk problems... It's always been between 7 and 8.
It's starts from the tips but it's affecting the whole colony

it sound like it could be a couple things. 1 phosphates are high witch kills growth. 2 the temp swing may be the big cause you may need to get a chiller or keep the house cooler.

I do use amino. I put it in the tank 15 min before feeding. I use Rotifers, Red Sea A and B, Dr G's sps max, coral frenzy, coral smoothly...

Hi Rambler. Thanks for your input. Neither I nor the store read any phosphates I used API they used Red Sea.

Temp swing might be to blame as well. And I just got home from a 3 hour ride to get a chiller...

I have had my ac on for the past 3 weeks to try to keep the tank stable but it's not easy to manage temp...

sorry i seen it but it was the frag tank that had the high phosphates. check your heater it may be malfunctioning cause the temp swing. you may want to try dipping the coral may help.
