I recently got a frag of Duncanopsammia axifuga from www.PhishyBusiness.com along with a few wild colonies. Serdar runs a top notch operation and packs like no ones business. I'm very impressed with the quality of corals I got from you, especially this new Duncan frag :D

That puppy openned up in a few minutes after being tanked and had a good meal of Arcti-Pods later that day :D

Sorry for the washed out pic, I've been living in ADobe world for work and doing it on my free time doesn't sound inviting

That is awesome. I'd love to grab one of those, but alas...no houses sold down here yet. :)

Great looking piece, Gresh...shoot me a PM when you get a chance.

Peace,

Chip

Looks like it's just starting to open up. :D

Nice coral. It will grow, and quick, once it gets going.

Nope, that's days after I got it. It openned minutes after being tanked :D That shot is near the end of the day, when it closes up for a bit.

Huh. The one I've seen never looks like that. More pointed tips, like a Tubastraea.

What are some common names for these?

It's rare enough in the hobby that it doesn't have one. If somebody has a Duncano-, they know the scientific name.

It's related to Tubastraea and Dendrophyllia, it has stony skeleton with a polyp that looks superficially like an anemone. It's also zooxanthellate. Here's a shot with the polyps closed up.

Oh, ok. Just trying to figure out the size of this thing. It looks really nice when open! The polyps are relatively the size of tubastraea polyps, then? And what are the requirements for it like - like most LPSs?

Hehe, I know what you mean, but the pictures don't do this coral justice. The green centers are pretty intense.

Here is a photo when the polyps are open.

I forgot to give credit to Dustin Dorton for this and the above photo. I assume these were both taken at ORA.

A little smaller than Tubastraea polyps. Probably closer to Turbinaria polyps in size.

As far as I know it's low light and current, and will benefit from regular feeding of mysis or other meaty stuff.

And what are the popular interweb prices on these puppies? :D

Best of luck. Aside from the people who have posted in this thread and a couple others I haven't heard of it being kept, let alone sold. I imagine it'd fetch quite a bit. You may try on frags.org.....

I'm only kidding. Just being a jerk

Our friend Bryan picked up a couple of these a few months ago. They haven't grown much since he doesn't direct feed them.

That's from his office tank at the hatchery itself.

IIRC, it was around $80 a polyp @ Phishy Business. I kinda forgot that part though as I bought a few other pieces :D Honestly, with the growth rate of these puppies, you only need one polyp. Mine has sprouted another head since posting this thread :D From all reports I've gotten thus far, my experience is the norm with this coral, extremelly fast grower, when feed.
