So made some changes on my controller and now I'm getting bus locks. Gonna troubleshoot it tonight, but meanwhile calcium port got stuck on and I dosed ~700ml of brs calcium. Should only raise my Calcium by 100ppm so I'm not too worried and everything looks pretty happy so not gonna stress it. How long do you think I should dose alk by itself you think? Or should I take the opportunity to raise alk too?
Ok, so for a first 2-part malfunction I didn't fare to bad. My calcium went from 440 when I tested last month (which has been extremely stable) to 550 today. Could have been much worse. My alk dropped to 6.6 though from 7.2 without dosing. I plugged some numbers into the reef chemistry calculator to see how much to dose to get it back to 7.5 and it came to 42ml. I dose 45ml a day so it pretty much reflects the day's consumption. I've got my dosing containers filled with RO/DI and gonna dose manually just alk for a few days to make sure all is well again. Hope everything copes with the alk swing and calcium boost. At least it wasn't alk that got dosed 700ml
So calcium has been slowly dropping it was 520 the other day. I've also been raising my alk dosage. It's now at 50ml to maintain a ~7.5dkh. Keeping my eyes on it closely so I can turn the Calcium back on. Nothing has been worse for wear. I think something is bothering my zoas, my last wow paly looks like its done and I lost a whole colony of udder chaos. I'm going to need some more of that it was my favorite and doing great. Same thing going on with my candy apple reds. Cleaned my mp40s and the glass today. Everything is looking nice!
Congratulations! Thats great that they survived and growing. It looks like they are in your DT? Any plans to care for them long term? Must be a great feeling to have discover these little guys.
Yeah they're in a cave. Thats the view from underneath the tank mostly. No plans to raise them. Nothing setup, nothing grown to feed them. I didn't even know there were eggs or pregnant fish. It's a super awesome feeling. Glad I decided to check the tank before going to bed tonight!
Maybe they will make it on their own. They seem big already, like more than a few days old. But then, I don't know anything about new born chromis and what it takes to care for them. Congrats again.
