sun polyps don't care where they are placed as long as they are not right under a halide. They respond to feeding stimuli and they need to be fed often. Yours appears to be dieing off. I would get some cyclopeez and squirt it with a little to get them open then squirt them again after they open up. Seaclones will produce skimmate but then you could produce skimmate by blowing through a straw if you want to get into it. Seaclones are almost ornamental.

well i just looked through the thread and you guys have a lot of nice and fancy expensive skimmers....yet the skimmate looks the same...does it smell good, mine doesn't I have to empty it out every other day...i'm sure ur skimmers are much better than mine...but i'm also sure your tanks are also much bigger than mine which in case need a better skimmer.....

Yeah Its PC's well the rics look pretty cool, its my camera that sucks.....I do plan on upgrading to MH's, when the funds are available...

40 Gal. Tank High
PC Lighting/Actinic/Moon Lights
50 Lbs. LR
35Lbs. LS 3-4 Inch DSB
Wet/Dry Sump
SeaClone Skimmer...working hard 24/7
HOB Refugium...7 lbs. rock rubble/2 inch Sand Bed/Cheato/Tigger Pods
Power Head w/wavemaker....

Yeah I am overstocked....Yellow Tang will be relocated
Firefish
Sixline
Cardinal-Evicted soon
Maroon Clown
Yellow Watchman Goby
Blue/Green Chromis
2 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Blood Fire
1 Peppermint
1 Mexican Turbo
1 Emerald Crab
1 Blue Porclein Crab
7 Nassirus Snails
2 Bubble Bee Snails
2 Black Snails

Should clams be ONLY under MH? how old is your tank? I dont think peppermint shrimp are reef safe either. Since you dont have a top and your tank is stocked you should watch out for for the firefish and sixline, may jump out.

somebody here likes jay-z

anyway, about the skimmer, just about all of the advice that you have been given is good advice. big or small the seaclone is not a good or even decent skimmer. try a coral life hang on or a aqua c remora. for a small tank you are stocked more than some reefers larger tanks. the skimmer isnt about how large your tank is but is gauged about how many fish/corals you have. with your tank you need a better skimmer 1st, lighting 2nd, and take out the bio balls little by little (a handful or 2 over a period of a week or longer) until they are gone. i would say it is safe to say that until you do a few things to tweak your tank you really wont enjot some of the corals that have at the moment, and any addition will slowly die off. this will cause you to buy more corals to replace the dead and dying ones (which make the skimmer work even harder), hence spending more money in the long run.

get a better skimmer take out the bio balls and the pads if the budget allows it. because, even with better lights the fish and corals wont color-up nor will they thrive.

i agree with the lot because i have a seaclone an as much as it produces"skimmate" im not happy and i have a great looking 29gal.but the only reason i havent got a better one because i have a 90gal sitting empty in my living room empty and its killing me that its not setup so all my money will be going into a asm3 or maybe the bermuda.anyway if your not upgrading in size i would say save up the pennies(like me lol).and upgrade the skimmer.good luck.

I"m not selling a skimmer in a thread about a tank, cause that's against the rules.... but I heard that fritz guy has an ASM G2 laying in his closet not doing anything.

Your tank reminds my first setup, makes me nostalgic. :)

Look in good and I agree go with a skimmer not lights. Your corals will be plenty happy with your current lights (with the clams as a possible exception)
