Thanks Knuck.
So far I love these lights. I like their color, and I like the way the canopy looks. The big downside is that if I slouch too much on the couch I can see the bulbs and that is rather unpleasant.

Thanks Chris and Bethany.
Most of the livestock has been in the system for years, so its more of a tank move than a new tank. But moving from a 6ft. long tank to a 4ft. long tank sure makes it look like we have more corals!

Oh... and I bought an awesome skimmer today. I'll post a pic of it tonight or tomorrow. It is a seriously well made piece of equipment.

This is the new skimmer. There is a thread about it in the GRD, but I'll post a pic here for posterity.

This thread was due for an update. Everything is doing great, the SPS are all showing great growth. I'll post a pic of the tank itself soon, but I just don't feel like cleaning the glass right now.

Here is a new pic of the sump. It has changed some, I took one of the tanks out so I could place the new skimmer over the sump. Plus you can see the new Sequence return pump I got to replace the Dolphins that kept exploding on us.

I also attached a pic of the scum that comes out of this incredibly awesome skimmer everytime I clean it.

Here is a look through the left side of the tank. You can see the green digi and the birdsnest in the background. Both have grown a good deal. You can also see the top of the monti cap which has gotten pretty large. All three of those corals are the same ones pictured toward the bottom of page 2.

I cant find it, but what pump are you running the squirt with?

Nice.

The squirt is run by a Gen-X Mak4.
I was a little worried that the pressure might have been too much for the squirt since I didn't run a by-pass on it the way oceansmotions recommends for pumps over 1000gph, but I took a gamble since the Mak-4 is rated only slightly higher than 1000gph and I have had no problems so far. The squirt is hot to the touch and I don't know if that is a result of the squirt struggling due to the pressure or if they all feel hot when running. Other than that I have had no problems with it, and love not having powerheads in the tank.

I really need to update this thread with new pics. The tank is starting to look mature and the growth on the corals is amazing. My camera is really low quality and the pics always make the tank look murky and dark, but I'll try to get a new full tank shot tonight.

So? We're waiting. Stop slouching, clean the glass and... get Laura to take some picts. :D

Just kidding. I'm sure you'll be fine if you stay off the trampoline.

Thanks for the much needed motivational kick to the backside Tom.

Here are some pics from earlier today. I wiped off parts of the glass and stepped off of the trampoline, and I think this is the best my camera can do... I wish they weren't so dark.

Hey, you shouldn't be hard on yourself, those are really good pics. Shows what you can do when you step off the trampoline. :D

Everything looking very good, but I can't help but wonder how the big ugly brown acro is doing. Did it color up in the end?

The Big Ugly Brown Acro is still with us and has managed to retain an impressive 75% of its namesake characteristics. It is still as an Acro (as far as I know... at the very least I am comfortable asserting that it is still the same species as it was when I got it), it is still ugly, and it is still brown. But it is no longer big.

It looked like it was begining to lose some tissue at its base so I decided to make the big ugly brown acro into several small ugly slighlty less brown acros. It has lightened up a bunch, but I can't say it has 'colored' up... or 'coloured' if you prefer. It is a more pleasing color of brown now I think. I probably don't have the lights to ever have it 'color' up, but I like it.

Looks wonderful!!!

Those lights still treating you well?

Thanks.

I still love these lights. Not having a canopy is the second greatest thing in the world next to not having any powerheads in the tank.

Sometimes it's the least visually appealing occupants of our tanks that make a big impression. Good to see the BUA is still around (even if in a different form). :D
