Hood Update!
Just finished and installed my hood yesterday. I have no build pics but its just a box w/ a L shaped door hanging on a piano hinge. i hate piano hinges but i would have had to special order hinges that go 180 degrees and i didn't want to wait that long. I'm going to have to get myself a new pair of ...
soon.
Sorry beforehand for the crappy pics and don't mind the mess.
My router attacked me when I made my first slot for the vent so i was stuck making them bigger to even them out.
Water based laquer finish, on the inside its coated with white high heat paint. I also added 2x T5 TEK retro's to the lighting with geismann pure actinic bulbs and i'm loving it. That little bit of actinic really helps certain coral highlight the right way. Also been running the T5's for a week and have noticed my SPS begin to highlight different colors than before.
3x 90mm PC fans are running whenever the lights are on. Before the hood i had my ceiling fan running and the air conditioner set at 71 in the adjacent room and my temp would fluctuate from 76.5 to about 80-81 degrees during the day. So far with the air conditioner off it went up .5 of a degree in about 4 hours. I'm guessing a 2 degree max by the time my lights are off which is alot better than the 4-5 degree fluctuation i would get during the day. I'm planning on deflecting some air intake from 1-2 vents towards the water soon which should maintain my temp almost perfect. I fill up my tank about 3-6 liters of water a day.
I also added 1/2" chicken wire on the vents and the PC fans on the inside to prevent Fish flopping out or turning into sushi in my fans.
I found the camera that had my tank build pics so i'll have them up later on tonight once it finishes charging.
Next upgrade:
-Custom electrical switch box (of if i can find one premade thats of good quality)
-ATO
-Auto doser
