Looks nice Andy

How large is that clown?

She is large Craig, over 2 inches, and a terror. Feeds out my hand though so I tolerate her, but I wouldnt recomend that species for tanks to anyone- she has hounded a few new fish until they die of stress related issues.

Looking good Andy! Nice selection of fish and lots of swimming room. 8)

How hard is it to get hold of livestock over there?

Thanks Tom

Livestock is available, but not that easily obtained. It seems that the one major importer- who is my LFS, is also a major supplier of contract tanks to corporates and restaurants, and any decent corals get 'intercepted' before the general rabble gets to see them. I have also had problems with shipping stress with almost anything I have bought. Also, even by international standards, its a frighteningly expensive hobby here.

That said, I catch my own cleaner/ boxing shrimps and as many hermits as I like- all within a kilometer of my apartment, and I have access to mussel- encrusted shipping bouys that provide me with tons and tons of copepods and sally lightfoots. There are also many popular tank specimens that I can catch myself, including my current project of 2 small lionfish and our indiginous rocklobster.

Our local marine fauna is rather less exciting! Though with climate change, we're seeing more and more mediterranean visitors.

Great looking tank Andy. I like the fact that you aquascaped modestly. No gigantic wall of rock.
And what a view !

Any plans for additions to the tank?

Thanks CO

At the moment I am busy setting up and stocking my second tank which is planned as a FOWLR, with 2 small lionfish and some of our local rock lobster. The coral tank can wait a bit, I still want to aquascape it differently and get some more LR. I also want to work on a more efficient flow in it.

WOW 8O Talk about necroposting!!

Well, my tank (the one in this thread) is lying in pieces around me, waiting for the movers to take it to the new place. it took 14 hours to split the silicone and break it down- I shudder when I think how much fun it going to be to rebuild........

I will post again when its being rebuilt at the new place, I have pics now, but they are pretty depressing......
