Thanks both! I was stoked to get out and buy some new treats, but it was the only high point of a day which involved the car breaking down on the way there. My wife is an angel - she suggested we go to the shop anyway. So once the car was towed away, we went and I got exactly what I wanted.

The car looks likely to cost twice what it cost to buy to repair it. Three weeks after being able to drive it for the first time. It looks like we might be better off scrapping the thing and starting again. :x

Nothing new at the moment unfortunately. The only recent addition has been three small pieces of live rock at the back. I've had a little growth, but nothing spectacular.

Currently thinking about ditching the fuge and using the space in the sump for the reverse flow GFO and GAC reactors, which I still haven't set up. That might help a little with growth I'm guessing, as would just leaving things alone for a while...

Somtime you need to not tinker to keep things going. The corals never grow as fast as we feel they should.

Nothing good happens fast in a reef tank ;)

Thanks Ben. The tank's aquascape is really no longer and apparently it became a milkshake as a result of the quake (and spilled some water over the side), but things are looking OK for now.

Glad to hear you and your family are OK.

I guess you get to re-scape now, maybe add the extra rock you wanted to.

Sorry Ben, I missed this, as I've only been in The Sump when I've been checking in. Thanks for your concern. Family and friends all OK, thankfully.

While my wife was with her parents, I indulged in a little retail therapy with a guy at work who's also got a tank.

Also switched out the Megachrome Coral bulb that came with the fixture for a Radium 150w DE. Quite a bit bluer, but not sure whether it's coming out too strongly in the photos. Maybe I need to adjust the white balance. Anyway, here is a mini update.

First off a little hitchhiker that's been around for a while, but up until now has been too small and elusive to take a photo of. You can get an idea of how small he is from the zoa polyp. The shell he's wearing is one of the tiny grazers that has proliferated in the tank. Again, click twice on the photo for the full size shots.

Next up some progress shots of the growth on some of my zoas.

First some blues. From this:

To this:

Fluorescent greens next. From this:

To this:

And now these olive and orange ones. From this:

As part of my shopping, I got my second Acro:

[rimg]http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab238/TheEscapedApe/Long%20awaited/P1010078-1.jpg[/rimg]

A little green Acan:

[rimg]http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab238/TheEscapedApe/Long%20awaited/P1010080.jpg[/rimg]

A nice rusty orange chalice with green hints (can't get it to look good in photos, but it's subtly beautiful):

Some washed out looking zoas which I hope will colour up (they were in an actinics only tank in the LFS)

[rimg]http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab238/TheEscapedApe/Long%20awaited/P1010098-1.jpg[/rimg]

They came with two types:

And my favorite, a lovely Blasto and at a not bad price (I don't see them much here and anything with two colours is usually very expensive):

Lastly, here's a not particularly well taken FTS:

Some nice red zoas.

Previous purchase that has colored up a little.

New shot of my Tail Spot Blenny

Couple of my Clowns.

[rimg]http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab238/TheEscapedApe/Long%20awaited/IMG_0351.jpg[/rimg]

One not particularly good shot of my McCosker's Wrasse.

[rimg]http://i867.photobucket.com/albums/ab238/TheEscapedApe/Long%20awaited/IMG_0361.jpg[/rimg]

And some of my newest fish, an African Flameback Angel. He got picked on by the Blenny a little when he went in, but has since told the Blenny who's boss and they're avoiding each other.

Awesome tank! Everything's beautiful.

I just have a question. Are the clowns supposed to have those black dots? Is it black ich?

Thanks guys. There always seems to be something new to worry about (see below  ), but it's also giving me quite a lot of pleasure.

Thanks Mike. I've been trying to work out what that is with the clowns. A friend suggested it was something viral that wouldn't really affect the clown's health or transfer to other fish, but would also be difficult to get rid off. To be honest, I'm not sure what it is. It's been there for a while and doesn't seem to have got any worse/had any impact on the clowns' health. Any suggestions?

I sometimes see spots like that on my clowns, but it usually goes away after a day or two. I don't know what it actually is though.

Keep up the water changes and provide a varied diet of meaty foods and algae-based foods and it should be fine. It doesn't look like anything serious though.

Thanks Mike. I do a weekly water change of about 20% pretty much (it sometimes slips by a day or two, but that's about it). But I could probably vary their diet a bit more. I might put some nori on a clip as well, because the Angel will no doubt appreciate it, as will the Blenny, even if the Clowns won't (and I am in Japan after all, so nori's not exactly hard to come by...).
