Hello Everybody and Manhattan Reefs...

I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Sam. I'm new to the saltwaterfish and reef hobby. I'm also learning how very expensive start-up is. My friend Angel will be helping me from time to time when he can. This web site has been an encyclopedia for me. I stay up for hours reading posts and learning.

I'm very excited about starting this 220 gal reef tank. I more i see the more i wanna do. I've met a few people an realized that in general, people who love this hobby are more humane than most. They are caring and patient. I can't wait to meet the rest of you guys/gals at the Frag/swap meet.

My tank build is in Newark Liberty Int'l Airport. In my office, where i'm hooked up with emergency power back up systems at all times.

Here are the stats. BTW most items were purchased used from manhattan reef members.
220 Gal dual built in overflows.
DIY 55 gal sump/refugium and mag 24
MTC 1000 protien skimmer Mag 12 w/overflow
Steel Custom stand 72"X24X32 from Aircraft welding shop.
3 295 gph power heads
1 150 phosban reactor
1 150 carbon reactor
72" Aqualite 3x250MH & 4 96W actinics with moon lites.

I wish i could bring jarret shark, Bob 1000, solace aquatics, and motortrendz to my office and plumb this thing correctly. I read your 220 gal thread. It is sick with all that plumbing in the basement.
My refugium has high volume of water running through it. I have 2 drains that are 1.25 and 2 returns that are 1". should i plumb the return/supply to 3/4. I will post video an pics next week so you can see what im talking about.

the sump in the pictures was a temp sump used to cycle the tank ...we had a bigger wet dry but it was running on our 110gal folr tank .. we need to post pics of the tank now with it almost done... pluming needs to get finished up ..and the bottom of the stand needs to be covered up...the tank is cycled now and live stock is in tank...

as far as the rocks 95% of them are free standing and the rest glue to each other ..

will post pictures soon ...
