My stand was accidentally made too shallow by only 1 damn inch... It's 17" instead of 18" like the sump I got from Charlie is.

omg common, that sucks dude. Well I say take a saw and cut that thing up that sump is so good to use, (if you can) why wast the money or you can just put the sump in the back and make that a space to store the top off water and reactors.

But I would def hate to see you loose out on using that sump

Yeah. I've thought about changing the stand but it would complicate things too much.

Just gotta get a 29g from some one...

Or another sump which is 36" and no more than 16" deep.

Update...

More pics when I get home. it's actually almost done just need some more sanding and then going to stain it.

The top layer of wood (the only wood that will be visible) is called "Pine Radiata".

I scored a nice deal on it in Home Depot...

Stand update

Wood is called Pine Radiata.

Just a bit more sanding..

Still deciding on a stain and clear polyurethane coat or go for the easier option - a shaded polyurethane...

Any wood workers advice?

Lots of studying to be done this weekend (for school :-\)..

Probably won't get a chance to finish of the stand for another 2 weeks... as finals are approaching quickly.

Maybe after work I'll get a chance to do a little more sanding.

Decided to ditch the ESV Ultra White Fine Sand...

Its just too damn white... looks more like salt than sand.

Thankfully Tito from Gotham Aquatics is allowing me to exchange for CaribSea Aragamax Sugar Grain

If you're going with alot of flow in the tank, I wouldn't recommend this type of sand. It will blow allover the place.

Well I'm not planning on doing SPS... and even if I do.. it'll be a tiny bit.

What sand do you recommend?
