Sam,

I have 40 bags of the southdown equivalent that I can sell you if you need. I believe I paid 6.99 per 50lb bag of this - if you want, I can bring to you on my next swing through bklyn/queens, but only if you pay before delivery.

LMK if you want it all, or only some of it.

BC, ESV won't have theirs ready for awhile and it's going to be alot more than 6.99 for a 50lb bag. Should be priced around $25 for a 20lb bag. FWIW

Hello guys....I got 5 bags for my 110 set up last April from House and no ill effect. NO algae or problems with my fish. Sand is fully alive now and kicking! All is doing awesome...pics of tank in my gallery.

House has the goods!

playsand is fine. ive used it for many years with no ill effects. aragonite(southdown) is better, but the silica is fine too. its a myth that silica sand will release silicates into the water. the only drawback to silica sand is the shape of the particles. if you look at it under a microscope you will see that the particles are very sharp and pointy. this may slightly irritate some of the creatures in the sand bed and maybe some sand dwelling corals, but not severely in any case.

Samster, I would highly recommend House?s sand. Like I said in my previous post, I have had it for some time with no ill effect on anything. Corals are fine, feather dusters even my checkerboard wrasse which sleeps in the sand bed is great.

I also know of another member, Junglebase, which picked up a few bags from House. In any event here are a few pics of the tank with as close of the sand shots as I have. For what it is worth?.good luck.

I also have a video of my tank on my thread which may show the sand.....(download beware)

Blik all, thanks -

Jose it's Kolorscape which is a southdown blend - not 100% southdown, but it works - passed the vinegar fizz test. I have 3 bags in my fish system and there has never been an algae problem (nothing past standard diatoms etc) and as you can see from Blik's tank - all is well - we set the whole thing up togeher about 6 months ago and it;s been kicking large ever since.

I've been running my system with the southdown mixed with arragolive, I don't seem to have any algae problems. The system i currently have has been running for about 10 months. I also used the same mix of southdown and arragolive about 3 years ago on my old system which i brokedown about a year ago.
