photo credit: MASNAMASNA, the Marine Aquarium Society of North America, has just announced the 2nd annual MASNA Scientific Poster Session, which will be held at the Marine Aquarium Conference of North America (MACNA) 2017, in New Orleans, LA, August 25-27 2017.

From their press release:

The MASNA Scientific Poster Session allows for advanced aquarium hobbyists, undergraduates, graduate students, and scientists to submit scientific posters on their current or past marine aquarium related research projects. This includes submissions from hobbyists that would be seen as advanced aquarists.

This will give the opportunity for 3,000 MACNA 2017 attendees to get up close and personal with scientists and fellow hobbyists, and discuss marine aquarium related science.

Posters will be judged by a committee consisting of general hobbyists, and scientists. Prizes will be awarded for posters in each of the three following categories: general hobbyists, undergraduate students, and graduate students.

Poster abstract submissions will be open from April 10 – July 7, 2017.

In addition:

Poster presenters will be asked to stand by their posters for one of two 1.5 hours periods over Friday and Saturday, which would give an opportunity for MACNA 2017 attendees to get up close and personal with scientists and fellow hobbyists, and discuss aquarium related science.

Posters will be on display from 9am-6pm either on Friday, August 25th, or Saturday, August 26th. Presenting authors shall be present, next to their poster, for the 1.5 hours on the day their poster is on display.

Posters will be judged by a committee consisting of general hobbyists, and scientists. Prizes will be awarded for posters in each of the three following categories: general hobbyists, undergraduate students, and graduate students.

Accepted posters will need to have at least one author present at MACNA 2017, in New Orleans, Louisiana, from August 25 – 27. Also, each poster needs its own author in attendance at MACNA. Authors may not solely represent multiple posters. Accepted posters do not come with admission to MACNA, and all attending authors will need to have MACNA Full Conference Passes so that they can be present at the Saturday night banquet.
