Aphyosemion jeanhuberi is a new tropical African killifish discovered in the Chaillu Mountains, which straddle southern Gabon and the Republic of Congo.  The males (pictured above) are the definition of amazing.

Not to be outdone is Moema beucheyi, a new annual killifish from the Amazon in Bolivia, South America.  The colors are perhaps not as eye-popping as A.jeanhuberi, but its amazing “mod dot” patterns and impressive finnage makes make M.beucheyi a real standout.

This is Melanorivulus imperatrizensis from rio Tocantins basin in northeast Brazil.  Okay.  This new species isn’t quite up to par with the other two.  Two out of three ain’t bad.

These three new killifish are published in the latest issue of Aqua.
