try having a 6 foot black tipped reef shark about take off your hand!!! WHILE your holding a $100,00 piece of government owned tracking equipment in your free hand! LOL!!!!
I was on a war games special opp's mission to locate a cruiser and deploy 1 mile out off shore and go wet all the way undetected and place a new technowlodegy tracking device on her hull while she was at anchor.
The idea was to test a newly designed re-breather and a newly designed stealthy Like fast UPPU ( under water personal propulsion unit). ( just like UPP's you use when diving, only dam near totaly silent and FAST.) I had to go hush all the way there undected with this giant turd strapped to my back and piece o' crap toilet plunger for a ride there!!! LOL!!!
The UPPU kept cutting out and I had to stash it 1/4 mile away from the cruiser on top of a sunken tanker!!! LOL!!
SO any who when I get there they had just released thier garbage shoot!! ( can you say some one was expecting me!!!! LOL!)
You know who was waiting to eat it!!! About 50 sharks of all species! LOL!!
SO I turn on the tracker ( simulates a bomb and sends a radio mesage basicly telling them they have been had once again by the wayner' LOL!!), slap it to the hull gently, mission acomplished right!
WRONG!! I had to haul finns back to the tanker pickup my UPPU and head back to the ship. Well as I turned away the blinking red light atracted a large female black tip! She saw my watch shine and decided it was food!!
I stuck her in the eye with my thumb she released my hand, I held my hand tight and finned back to the tanker , and then back to the ship with my UPPU. Which this time thank god didnt fail! LOL!
Now that sucked!!!!!!
LOL!!!
Believe it or not though there wasnt much blood. Just a small stream in the water. The sharks were content with the garbage and the female was thrashing around in circles thinking what the fook was that!!! I mean to tell you I had my thumb IN her eye socket! EEWWWWWwwww!!
I know I poked it out, I had to of.
SO I make it back to the ship scurry on board to get the good news....
And the device had been knocked off THE HULL!!! LOL!!!!!!
The thrashing shark must have knocked that sucker off with her tail or some thing?
SO I had my hand broken and cut all to pieces.
Nearly drowned due to a failing aqualung, AND a POS scooter.
AND I got repremanded by the by the old man him self when I got out of the infirmery! LOL!! He was a real blue falcon! He would screw his mother over for an extra bar! LOL! He was po'ed at me because that f-up cost us the second half of the excersise. (should have doubled checked it after I bundled up he said!)
I got CQ duty (charge of quarters and night desk!!), Pt (physical training) every day for a month and then to top it all off this Nugget ( Navy slang for for a Second Lieutenant) on board poked fun at me (not somthing you do to a superior officer let alone a S.E.A.L LOL!!)!! I light him up with my good arm real nice, and then got the brig on top of all of that!!!! LOL!!!
BUT the next games I pulled a similair task an aced it so I was back in the good graces of the falcon, and his nugget!!! LOL!
NOW THAT IS A BAD DAY MY FRIEND!!! LOL!!!!

Fragmaster,Shipbuilder.........
I love the stories. I dont have any thing so glamorous as those, but i did work on a ship in alaska for four years. Usually not to far from those crazy crabbers you see on discovery channel. Does that count as enough Oceanic torture and hardship to join your exclusive hardluck story club? :D

DEFINATLEY!!! I worked on a crabber when I was 19 out of alaska!!
Right before I joined the Navy.
Any man who has endured the harsh oceans off the alaskan coast has my vote as a true sailor! the fishing season is near the full blown winter months and those are SERIOULSY rough waters during the prime fishing months.

holy crap..well now Im SURE my worms are bristleworms and not fireworms lol.

Always before, my worms only came out at night, and as such didnt bother me much but now they like to hang out in the full light..their fuzzy lil heads pokin out all over GGRRR! Why might this be? I trap and trap but they are neverending and are not idiots, Ive seen them enter the trap, grab the bait and easily find the hole out!

... BTW..i worked for the circus for a couple of years, and got my foot bitten by a zebra, and got lifted off the ground by my arm, by a dromedary :).
