That depends on which color, what Kevin are the white you are getting and whether are you driving them at the same current . You can drive some Cree models over 1A while the blue is usually 700ma.

Cree's cool white has 6,7000K to 8,300 range
and there are standard blue and royal blue.

Other brand have 12,000K white to choose from as well.

Assuming you are driving all of them at 700ma, I would say upon using Cree XPG 8,300K and XPE Royal Blue 450nm, the ratio should be 2:3

If you drive the XPG white at 1A, then the ratio should 1:2

Using EPI LEDs, 12,000K and 450nm Royal Blue I would do 1:1 or 2:3

Wingo they're all going to be CREE XP-G's Cool White and XP-E Royal Blue with one driver for each. Should I run the White's at a higher current as the site suggests? Or keep them all around 900 or 700? They've also suggested I get 80 Degree lenses; this is going over my Solana.

LED Type
Recommended Current
Maximum Current
Cree XP-E (Blue, Royal Blue, Green)
800mA-900mA
1000mA (1A)
Cree XP-G (Neutral and Cool White)
1200-1300mA
1500mA (1.5A)

Most DIY found Reef Central uses 700ma for XPE RB and 900-1000ma for XP-G CW(with 8,300K). You can find the general consensus of what the color combo will look like from there.

I like 60 degree more than the 80 degree unless you are putting very close to the surface. 80 degree still have a lot of light spill.

Awesome thanks wingo. So out of 24 cree LEDs from the 24 rapid led kit what ratio do you suggest for the whites and blues?

This portion I cannot help you because that starts to go over to specific commercial aspect while RapidLED and WingoLED are both DIY LED vendors here. Hope someone will chime in or you can try to digest the advise given above and apply it over to their products.

You could also do a 1:1 ratio if you are going to be running dimmable drivers. Sine your running 24 LEDs total, put 12 cw on one driver and the 12 rb on the second. One of my Heatsinks has 40 LEDs total 1:1 ratio and I use Boostled.com controller. The whites are set to 60% and my blues are 90%. Since this is DIY it's really trying to see what others have done then base off of that. Your coloring depends on your own preference.

Yea everything is going to be ran with Meanwell dimming drivers and from an Apex controller, going to try and simulate as much of a natural environment as I can. Clouds passing, thunderstorms, sun up/sunset, etc.
