Leslie's thread on finding space in her apartment has me thinking that we should have a place (repository) to store ideas that are not yet in production - like finding space (for instance) or a better top off osmolator thingymajig whosiewhatchits . . . . . . . . .

Nothing is too crazy in this thread - if it can be thought, it can be designed, made - realized.

Who's has ideas that they never put on paper? Let this be your virtual sketchbook.

Let's see um.

A tiny skimmer with an external pump that actually pulls good skimmate. No more than 4" high. Basically, a pico-size skimmer.

Skin tight, re-usable aquarium gloves, arms length. Like scuba/body surfing suit material. Where you can actually feel what you're touching.

Not so much a far-fetch idea, but just basic stuff not really available. :-/

some great ideas already -

harif, let's keep this thread to aquaria related ideas only for now

Josh, great idea, seems it would have to be large and repurified - I like.

froggie - I am starting to believe that PICO skimmers are not efficient at all - note beckett is king (and by king I mean in size compared to others - maybe a pico beckett?

this has been mentioned before,
I want a frozen fish food feeder.

Some one figure out how to build one that works and I'll pay for it.

this would keep the food frozen and dispense the cubes on a timer :)

lol. I'm starting to believe that too. I'm just a nano-reefer at heart and would like to have the same selection/quality of equipment thats available for larger tanks. All thing being equal, why can't a pico skimmer processing less water volume be equally effective, in terms of percentage, as a larger skimmer? Aye... I need me a shrink gun.

A gun that shoots out a net and encloses, with pinpoint accuracy and lightning speed, those hard to catch fish. W/ adapters for differ size nets, distances...etc. :D

how about a tank that has like a rubber liner for the bottom and a rigid screen ontop of that for your rocks....then after the tank is supported at the edges theres a machine that rocks the rubberliner back and forth to create flow

the fish feeder will have to melt the cubes first so that the food stays suspended. Maybe it drops the cubes into a hopper in the tank. After say...5 minutes the hopper opens and the food falls out.

I've thought it out in different ways, but it's ineffectiveness is in part due to the fact that it would have to freeze and defrost, thus using separate elements for each. It would also be a large piece of equipment, but very possible if someone really wanted it.
