To the bat bucket Robin...

Now it's going into my RO top off 48 gallon holding bin.. For about 1 week.. I could just throw it into the sump but I won't have anything to keep my ro make ph high.. Even though I only need to put this rock in the ro water for 14 minutes for it to raise the ph from 5 to 9.5...

Is this a commercial venture ? Im just asking becuase if it is I wouldnt ask you to divulge the recipe obviously. I did read a bunch of threads on making home made rocks and the biggest problem people seemed to have was the long time period needed to allow the leaching out of the pH raising substances. What is your experience with that? I've thought of making a few pieces as an experiment and dumping them in a milk crate at the beach or harbor here for a few months to see what seeds them and allow it to finish leaching.

1 part portland #3 cement, 5 parts aragonite sand or crushed coral... You have to judge your own water but not to much..
PH SMEEEE HH... I slam everything and still don't kill fish.. I've had my ph at 10.2 for almost a year with no ill affects on fish only tanks... My reef just hold s steady at 8.3 in the day...
Also I wouldn't add to much rock at once unless you have at least 200 total water volume... Monitor your ph after addind a small piece and then you will know how much you can add at once.. Small tanks like 40 and under I wouldn't even try it..
I take orders for designs for people, but not often...

i would b very careful on the long term effects on these rocks as to the leaching of various elements n chemicals as jejton have mention.

many people have been making their own rocks like this for years. including organizations like GARF, etc.

EDIT: Well not EXACTLY like this...never seen them in the form of letters lol. very cool

Just noticed this post and I've had pieces in my reef since it started and pieces in other tanks for a long time... Nothing bad since day one... Only good things.. This why I use portland #3 cement and no other type, also this is why I use crushed coral and sand with no phosphate level, also use nothing but RODI water for the whole process..
