i think the issue is he caught the fish, didn't know what it was (all ok to this point) then apparently threw it in his tank (not ok). once its in the tank you can't release it, so he is stuck with it unless he wants to kill and eat it.

and unless you are ready to give the guy a 1000 gallon tank, how exactly do you plan to help him?

oh i see how it goes. so since noone can offer him a hand aka HELP.... Then lets all go bash him...

GET REAL... either offer him info or explain his wrong doings so he can learn from his mistakes if not ppl need to keep there wise comments to themselves. thats what im saying.

so now lets see. he is wrong for keeping a fish that he caught locally because???? and once he put it in his tank he cant release it back into the local waters because????

now whoever answers those questions is offering help so that later on he wont do it again. now how simple was that?:irked:

He shouldn't have just assumed that a locally caught fish could be kept in an aquarium.

He can't release the fish into the wild now that it has touched his tank, it could have picked up all sorts of diseases and you don't want to release that back into the wild.

What some people don't realize that local fish collecting has been a sensitive subject for as long as I can remember here at MR.

FWIW I have seen that fish in the wild... it grows to be about 12" it loses it's strips when it mature and it's a free swimmer very active very fast! housing it any tank that we are capable of supporting is torture.
they can be seen in shallow water around pilings darting in and out it can also be aggressive and nasty when feeding

So does that mean you donated it to the Camden Aquarium? If so great, but you are VERY lucky they took it. Public aquariums are swamped with requests to take livestock from people that can no longer care for them properly--usually due to size issues --- and way more often than not cannot be counted on to help. All public aquarium staff I know ( and I know many) are very troubled by the attitude of some hobbyists ( not saying you--this is a general statement) who feel they can acquire livestock when young and just give it to the public aquarium when it grows too large Buying or acquiring livestock that one can't handle through all phases of its life is never a good idea.

I don't think Auto(even though I don't know him personally) is hostile towards your case. With his cultural background, I guess he may be very interested in cooking the fish knowing that it's a food fish.
