What's up people? I just got my copepods in. How exactly do I put them in the tank? Do I shut everything off? ( skimmer, return , circ pump) do I put them in the sump? What's the deal here with these things? BTW , I got them for my mandrin goby. Need advice.

You need to drip acclimate each one individually.
And check to make sure they are not breathing too quickly as the pH swing could hit them to fast.
lol

I would temperature acclimate them and do check the pH in the bag (?) against what is in your tank. If they are the same dump 3/4 of them in the tank and the other 1/4 in the sump (where they will multiply)

If the pH doesn't match, acclimate them to your pH.

Not a bad idea to turn off the pumps for a few minutes while they settle in - just don't forget to turn them back on!!

Note: I should have added not to use the water they came in!

Thanks Kathy. So are u guys saying I should strain them? Not sure if I have a fine bag to do so?! Any other suggestions? And thanks again. Even u smartie pants. Lol

Yes, you want to strain them to get rid of the water they were delivered in.
You don't have a net or an old media bag?
If not and no LFS nearby...you could use an filter sock to get the water out but many will stick to the filter sock so you will to swoosh it around to get them off. Don't have one of those - an old handkerchief would work, but I'd rinse the heck out of it in SW or rodi water first in case there is any detergent or dryer sheet residue on it.

IMBarrie's answer was hysterical... (sorry)

I never did any of the above. All I ever did was float the bottle for a while to temp acclimate, turned all the pumps of then dumped them in. After about 30 minutes I turned the pumps back on. I never noticed anything bad happen by my method. But then, that is my tank.;)

Me either just temp acclimate them is what I did in my last setup. But I don't suggest doing that. I say I got away with it cause there was a point when my tank was full of them.
But do listen to the advice you got from the people above if you want more alive then dead ones :) GL

I feed the tank before I add it keeps the fish busy and gives them 1/2 a chance to make it to the rocks. if I dont it is like a feeding fest.
