Ive noticed for the last month alot of increase in hair algea in my display. None in holding tanks.

For about two weeks ive been going nuts looking for a cause!

This morning before going to work i realized i use the 5 gallon homer bucket for top off and water change just for my display.

I took a a clean glass and added a cup of rodi and tested my top off water in the homer.

This is crazy

Glass - 001
Homer - 032

This is a 3 year old bucket, i cant beleive it leaches tha much crap

Hmm so I have two huge jugs that hold ro/top off water.. I don't think there is anyway I could clean them.. I'll have to test,, there is only a small opening on the top of these jugs, then spicket on the bottom

Interesting finding.
Assume the RO/DI filter is functioning. If the input is RO/DI, 90+ percent of solid should have been filtered. So where does the extra solid come from?

And, since the input is RO/DI, the slime should be mostly bacteria not solid chemicals unless they convert some nutrient in the RO/DI into solid.

Anyone knows what method is used in the TDS meter? Will the presence of bacteria foul the result?

I have a few HD buckets, one had a crack on the bottom so it's useless now for w/c. They are thin compared to others.

If you're going to spend $5 might as well spend it on a bucket of salt assuming you don't need the bucket right away.

I would spend the money for the food grade buckets that should not leach into the water.
