So i came home from a bar at 4am to find the back of my 90 gallon tank busted open and all the water on my floor.. pretty much lost EVERYTHING in it. ton of fish, inverts, and lps corals.. anyone ever been thru this? will the lfs, manufacturer, or home owners insurance cover anything? or did i just throw all this money down the drain (no pun intended)..

Sorry that this happened. Your homeowners insurance will not cover the lost livestock, but may cover any damage the 90 gallons of water did to your home. You may have some recourse with the tank manufacturer if the tank is still under warranty.

i spoke to the lfs and they told me to come in with a list of everything i lost in the tank. fish, inverts, corals, etc. they also said they need to pick up the tank i guess to look it over and to show to the manufacturer. im keeping my fingers crossed but trying to keep my expectations in check.. awesome birthday weekend to say the least.. hehe.

Out of all curiousity.. do you have any pictures of the tank before it broke?
I can't see how it would have split like that unless there was a defect in the glass, or that you put pressure on the glass by leaning rocks onto it.

i thought about that too. there wasn't much rock leaning on the glass. most of the rock was just stacked on top of eachother and touching the glass at certain points of the glass but not leaning on it..
