Everything was setup and looking good except for a tiny leak which I siliconed. Then I woke up and found my sump empty and it wet on the floor all around the frag tank :(

I agree but with lowes either use the lowes club card to track purchases or save the receipts.

Lowes has a limit on returns without a receipt, I can no longer return at lowes without a receipt bc of their limit

I now find myself at hd m9re often bc they have that cc search option which makes returns a breeze

One tip, by 2 of everything when it comes to plumbing parts. At the minimum. You can return whatever is left over when your done.

There was an ever so slow leak which I thought was from where the barb fitting screwed into the bulkhead so I just siliconed around the bottom of bulkhead.

I have no idea how all the water spilled. Somehow the drain must have stopped draining and just kept filling. Whats weird is I have a float switch to shut the pump off if the water in the overflow box gets too high.

So I tried siliconing around the bottom of the bulkhead where the barb fitting for the vinyl tubing goes thinking that is where the leak was from but it was still leaking. So perhaps it was the bulkhead itself. I have a spare I might try. Are there any tricks to sealing a bulkhead like maybe using silicone or something on the bulkhead (head) itself when I go to seal it?

Yes it is installed correctly. I also tightened but not by force just nice and tight. I was pretty sure that the leak was coming from where the barb fitting screwed into it on the dry side even though I used teflon tape. That is why I siliconed all around the bottom (dry side) where the two met but it was still leaking.

Now that is not where the big leak happened but still need to get this fixed while I have it back apart.
