Did I drill this in the wrong place (plumbing)?

Did I drill the hole a little low? I figured center it to the pvc pipe but then realized by looking at my other tanks that the hole will probably end up below the water line. Should it have been more on the top of the 90 rather than on the bend?

Instead of a 90 deg fitting, I would have used a 'T' and capped it. Then I would have drilled the hole in the cap.

I was just going off what Richie did in my 40 breeder rack build. He drilled a hole on the top and just kept drilling bigger until it was right. However those 90's look more square so the hole is where I drilled mine but is on the top. The water line is like a cm below that.

use a t like ms said, but dill thru the side of the cap into cap and pipe. then you can rotate cap to get the size hole you need. you might have to sand inside of cap so it rotates.

I agree (although both options can work.)

I would pressure fit a piece of 1/4 RO tubing and put a John Guest valve to reduce or increase the air flow

I thought about putting some airline tubing it but what if it needs more or less air? I like edd's idea. I probably have one chance to hit up the hardware store if needed so what you guys this I should get just in case sounds like maybe a T.

Yeh I went to the local hardware store as my elbow for the return wasn't going to work and planned to get a for the drain just in case but of course that was the one thing they were out of stock on. I did put an airtube in it to try. Just mixing some water so we will see shortly. Then to hang the light.

hole location does not matter. Its purpose is siphon break. However, durso could be noisy. look at full siphon designs. they are silent.

Ok I filled it with water but its filling faster than it drains. I assume my only option is a less powerful pump?

What size pump would be good for 3/4" drain? My return pump is ~3' from the return with at most 2' of rise no 90's so not much head loss. Mag 7 is filling faster than it can drain.

i looked on a chart, says 3/4 drains about 600 gph. so your close with the mag 7. why don't you gate it back a little. use the extra for a reactor.

Ok so I think I switched the mag7 for a mag5 but the sticker is off the pump so not positive. However if I completely cover the hole with my finger and create a siphon it handles it no problem. Does that mean if I get a new 90 and drill a much smaller hole it might work? (I tried tying a not in the airline but that didn't seem to work).

I drilled it out and put 1/4" tubing in there. I can't figure out which way to adjust it. Should I be pushing it in or pulling it out. I spent some time trying both but can't seem to figure it out.

Does pushing the tube in make it flow faster or pulling it out?

Can I also maybe T off the return to run my BRS dual reactor? Not sure what plumbing I would need I have a screw on 1/2" barb coming off the top of a Mag5. Perhaps reduce the flow.
