i bought a rainbow bubble tip anemone and thought they handed it to my girlfriend and when we got home we never got it in our bag :banghead: guess i lost out on it sucks but i enjoyed looking at everything

That sucks. prices were high today, I made a lot of pre palooza sales so I made out ok, I got a good deal on a few rock anenomes, and some zoas, a lot of stuff was way overpriced, i had a good time anyway( its always nice to see old friends and talk reef), talking with the tanked guys was cool, They better watch out tomorrow ( i'm bringing my 7 year old terror to see them), Unfortunatley after that nobody will talk to me again (LOL), hoping to get a few deals tomorrow. see you all there.

Call or go back to the vendor you bought the RBTA from. They'll help you out.

Overall I thought it was a good show. Got to see some new equipment and the same old coral. Prices for frags were a little crazy though. Normally you go to a trade show and all the prices are lower. My favorite booth was Pop Corals. They had great sized frags and mini colonies for "normal" prices vs other vendors selling 1/2" - 1" frags for $60-100+.

Part of the problem is this..I think a lot of people have this idea that the place should be full of $5 frags and that's never the case at any show. It costs a lot of money to do a show like this especially traveling. The booths for this show were very expensive then you have to think airfare, hotel for several days for I'm sure about 150 or so a night, the cost of shipping down their tanks, equipment and livestock, the cost of those items themselves they have to eat etc. It's thousands of dollars for a vendor to be at a show like this. I guess unless you have done it (Which I have) you don't figure those factors in but believe me those numbers are very real. The point is for them to make money..this is how a lot of vendors make a living full time. It's not worth it to do the shows if you can't make any money. That's really what it comes down to at the end of the day. You can't expect someone to spend all that time and money into coming to a show and giving their stuff away. When you want rare and good stuff you have to pay for it especially having the ability to see so much different livestock and pick it out in person rather than buy it online. What you see is REALLY what you get.

+1 I couldn't agree more.Cherry coral, World Wide Coral. JASON FOX, POPS, DrJim which I thought had best stuff and very reasonable in price. I thought at least what I wanted was a fair asking price just as I was ordering from them online. And without paying for shipment. Just my 2 cents..

I understand everything your saying but why would I pay extra for coral because you had other expenses. I can go to local shops and find most of the coral I saw on Saturday for less And without an admission fee. I like the overall experience of going to swaps but over the past 3-4 years prices have gotten outrageous.

Yes, that is true. But reason for Reef A Palooza is for vendors and hobbiest to see what's new and show what is out there. Like putting they product on map. For hobbyists we have a choice where to shop and who you want to buy from. You can't compare this show to LFS or Swap. It's like going to Car show. Your looking at many different things under one roof. I did not go there thinking I was going to get something cheap. I did find a rare SPS which was reasonable price and didn't have pay for shipping. It all comes down what you get out of the show. Everybody will see it different if you liked it or not.

Sorry we didn't meet up. That's great you won and had a blast. I had to leave at 2:30 but had a good time. Now you can sell one unit or both if you like and use that money for something else. Sounds like a win to me at Reef Palooza..:knockedou

Also had a good time at the show was there for 2 days. Only down side to me was no one had there names or screen names on a tag like at the macna shows , Not meaning vendors , So if you didn't already meet some one or already know them . Pricing was more than fare , you got to meet vendors who sold equipment and others who sold fish or corals. Not one big name wasn't there to talk or reach out to. Made many new friends and buisnesses to deal with . 1/2 of show was for customers and the other 1/2 for new business opportunities.

I made a last minute decision to head over to Reefapalooza and must say it was well worth the drive from LI...although I will check if there is a parade going on in Manhattan before I do that again lol.

It was wonderful to see so many of our members there and our favorite vendors. All of the manufacturers were easily approachable and more than happy to show off their new products and discuss the mainstays of our hobby.

The event was very well organized and well run. Even their raffle received my star of approval and they were sweet enough to allow me to pick/announce the winners for their 3 Grand Prizes :spin: (many thanks Greg!!)

I also helped out and am an NJRC member. I'll tell you it was a fun time, while I was at the NJRC booth I met a couple guys from Manhatten reefs and it was nice to put a face to some screen names including the grand prize winner of the radion, lucky guy
I did find a couple nice sps deals you just had to look a little harder to make it happen.
I will be looking forward to reef Appaloosa 1016

First time I ever went for some clowns and a Australian elegance from POP it was awesome.
Didn't see too many outrageous prices, almost got a 4 gallon cad lights aquarium for my babies room :biggrin
But got the elegance instead, lots of awesome looking corals and great people.
Great to see you able to be out Kathy hope that means the road to recovery is going smooth.

1. What were your thoughts on the exotic livestocks? (coral and fish)

I went for fish only and didnt find any other than some $400 variety. I arrived 1pm on sat. Maybe some were sold before i got there.

2. How were the vendors pricing? (Above average, average, below average)

I can get cheaper at the usual places. When u add toll and gas plus entry fee i got robbed.

3. Did you feel it was comparable with online pricing + shipping?

I cant speak for shipping.

4. Any amazing sights or experiences you want to share?
the only thing that caught my attention was that i put my ear directly on a mp40 quiet drive at the ecotech booth, they had it on wave mode and i could not hear a ramp which is amazing. Mr Saltwater tank TV was there. So were those guys from that fish tank reality tv show. And lastly i saw kessils new light fixture.

All of which i could have seen on youtube. TOTAL WAASTE OF TIME.
