Thats your best bet and funny that you say that. The week before closing on my house the town house complex i lived in blew one transformer after another. Thank god it was in the summer and I have a battery operated air pump and only a 65 gallon tank at the time. I was kicking myself the dam electric couldnt of held out another week. It was the second thing I did to my house after moving. Of course the tank came first, then upgraded the electric to 200 amp with the manual transfer switch and now 4 months later put in the generac auto. It is the best piece of mind knowning i dont have to worry about that. If i lost my tank i would be a dead man walking according to the misses anyway. LOL...

Jon, again, I would only want to get rid of that as well when I get the real deal Guardian. For now, my inverter will do (someone must be home) for now. I can run my main pump, skimmer plus some odds and ends off of it. Hopefully a full tank of gas if the need comes up.
Kedd, great purchase though. Peace of mind goes a long way in the hobby. Threads like this may help lead others in the right direction. BACK-UP!!!

I used to have the same setup, but the problem with that is you have to be home to wheel the generator out and then flip the circuits. I ripped that system out and went fully automatic with a generac generator that I got a sweet deal on. If anyone is interested please let me know. now I dont have to worry about losing power again or being home if the power goes out. It kicks on once a week and runs for 7 minutes to test all functions and to ensure it will start when the power does go out.
interested. pm me info and price

Jim, all you need is the junction box Kedd showed in the picture. I forgot the actual name of it. You plug them into around 8 circuts of your choice in your electric box and plug the generator into it. Really great idea.
