Did you have to pull a permit in your town and how much did the install cost? How does the sub-box shed the main circuit to prevent back feed to the grid?
I used to have the same setup, but the problem with that is you have to be home to wheel the generator out and then flip the circuits. I ripped that system out and went fully automatic with a generac generator that I got a sweet deal on. If anyone is interested please let me know. now I dont have to worry about losing power again or being home if the power goes out. It kicks on once a week and runs for 7 minutes to test all functions and to ensure it will start when the power does go out.
actually not to bad. It cost me about 400 more then the manual process. I helped put the gen outside and helped run the wiring to the panel. That is when the pro took over and did the rest. I won't play with 200 amps in the fuse box. But now the house is set tank, refrig, heater, kids rooms, bathroom and tv's.
I'm considering both the manual and automatic. Problem is, I do not plan to stay where I am forever so I don't want to put an auto like efisher. I don't want to buy a manual since I wouldn't have any need for it when I get the auto in a new home.
I've got a 7000w honda with a similar panel as Kedd's being held for me, but I think I may just hope for the best over the next 2 plus years until I go somewhere else.
