Kirtis, If I remember correctly, you just bought this tank last week. Guess you decided not to listen when you were told to GO SLOW!!. If you don't start listening, you will LOSE EVERYTHING!! You haven't waited long enough for your tank to even start to cycle, and you already have all of that in there. Don't come crying in here when things start turning belly up!

I have three fish in my 90 gallon right now. "How many" I guess depends on your opinions, and wether you are after a reef or a fish tank. The two are mutually exclusive to a certain degree, IMO. For now, I would take it easy and see how those fish interract. I've had more animals in my 55 before, but feel comfortable with 2 clowns and a tang in my 90.

Kirtis, is this your new tank? If so I can tell you that you are in trouble already! The advice you have gotten here is as good as it gets and yet you seem to have chosen your own path. Impatience WILL lead to failure.
To answer your question "how many fish", none.

Kirtis, once the cycle starts like any day now everything will die, you might have some luck with the tomatoe clown but thats slim also, the starfish will be the first to go and the eel will try to escape the tank and if he cant he will die in it, before you got into this hobby did you read some good books, go to different forums and listen to people, you NEVER cycle a tank with that kind of live stock, but you being 17 years old I understand, brain is not fully formed yet, I guess you like throwing out $, young and impatience= disaster, cya.

It does not matter if you added 30gal of water from youre other tank, bacteria does not live in the water but in the substrate or filter media(bio-balls), youre tank will cycle again, trust me.

how much can you really know at 17, when I look back now to my younger days I thought I knew it all to, till you find out later in life that you had no clue, and like I said youre tank will cycle again, and did you have the same animals last time you performed the same procedure, cya.

Kirtis is making a point there.. You all think he insulted you because he said some adults are drinking and smoking and on drugs, but who started?? I know young 17 people that still have more brains then older people so saying that his brain is not fully formed HAD NOT HIS PLACE HERE. There is other mean to talk to someone WHEN YOU ARE AN ADULT then insults. PROVE you are adults and talk like one. HE proved he had more brain then some others just by not insulting anyone and not replying as harsh as he was talked to. He might not know all about salt water fish but that does not mean you can insult the size of his brain.
I know someone that started a 200 g tank with water from other tank and fully cured live rock. And never went to the cycle again, so wait and ASK HIM what he did exactly before insulting him.
I for one started my 20g tank that way.. Never went to cycling.

Now to answer your question, an eel can grow pretty big. I would not put anymore fish in that tank... and you will probably be thinking of upgrading again to a much larger tank in the future to be able to keep your eel happy..
Good luck.

My wife wants to know when exactly I will become an adult.

Kirtis,

The water will help the new tank cycle. You may or may not haev an ammonia spike. Good luck, and keep us posted. I hope you stick with this board because there is much to learn as well as contribute here.

What kind of filtration are you using? That may help us to give better advice on stocking levels.

Actually Goldmoon, he said most adults. I don't think he's dumb and I think he probably has a cycled tank if he moved all his exsisting rock from one tank over to the new one. I just found his post riddled with irony.
