Dr Mac 10/10, they follow the progress of the package as much as i do when its ordered, great packaging and service

Live Aquaria 5/10, everytime i have ordered they call me on day of shipping and tell me they only have half the order, and when the stuff comes in i'm put at bottom of ship list, service is good

eTropicals, 6/10, same thing as live aquaria, but have had a few dead arrivals from these guys, service was good, and the speed of the refund

As for dry goods
Marine Depot, 9/10 for service
Reef Fanatic, 10/10 for service and price
Big Al's, 8/10 for service

I have updated the list on page one to reflect the recent votes as well as some corporate changes, and I have validated and updated the links where possible. Corporate changes referring to companies going out of business, buying out other companies and/or becoming dry goods only or branching out to livestock.

If somebody has made a post about an animal shipment, and the company lists as a dry goods only supplier, it's probably because they used to sell animals but don't anymore.

I ordered a 250 watt MH retrofit from them yesterday at around 5:30 pm pst. I rec'd it on my door at 9:30 the next morning. I thought I had at least a week to get my hood built. guess I have to get a rush on that hood now. :D :D :D :D

I've only used Pet solutions to get some VHO bulbs that were on a rediculous sale. and they arrived in perfect condition one week before they were supposed to I give them a ten.

I have a REALLY unpopular rating to add....

GARF- I rate them at 7.5
They would get considerably more if Leroy would hire an HTML guy. the site is clumsy to get through and ordering is a hap-hazard process -BUT- when asked, it kind of makes sense. They prefer to talk to the customer to get an idea of what they have and what they are ordering. Prefering to offer advice if you are a beginner so you don't get in over your head uninformed. They will talk to you in plain common sense ways and offer you whatever help they can.
They DO care about the animals.
I ordered the Grunge. I was cut a good deal on just 3 lbs for my 29G and the thing flooded with life a month later.
Just ordered 25 hermits and 25 snails (At $1.00 each a good deal) and 10 Lbs grunge with 2 free coral frags and a 1 lb sample of course grunge.
I have also adapted their method of making rocks for me and had good success with my recipe derived from theirs. If it weren't for their website to convince me that salt water wasn't really too hard I never would have tried. I dont agree with all their methods but I don't really agree with anyones method 100% anyway.

Mostly because they have the best prices I can find. they ship reliably (Im on east coast they are on west coast so there IS a little lag... but understandable.)
If you get stuck they will offer help on the products they sell you if you get through to them during business Hrs. I have the feeling that if there were any part of my setup that was not from them I would have gotten a finger pointing.

I unknowingly HOSED a set of 20K bulbs with a power on/off/on power fluxuation. They replaced them but warned me that such a thing was really uncommon b/c it was bulb mis-use and they were right....but treated me well.

Seasons my friend, seasons. Not everything is in season all the time. NO aquaculture facility ever has 100% full inventory all the time.

You should add MOPS (Mail Order Pet Supplies) which is Canadian, but will happily ship to the U.S. Dry goods. Very good prices, excellent delivery usually less than 24h. They tell you beforehand if something is not in stock. Website is easy to use. Me happy. I give them a 9. Not a 10 only because I'm a mean sonofabitch.

You know...

it would be really helpful to set up a vote sort of thingy with the different suppliers and a scale of 1 to 10. The avarage results would be a good indicator for those of us that have never ordered online.
