Low-balling

If people low-ball sales they should get feedback just as bad transactions would. I hate when people get cheap and then back out and then fade away to low ball another reefer. I had a particularly bad experience where someone tried to low-ball me into a trade for something they had. I had not posted that I wanted what they had or WTB, but said I would consider it. I took a few days to do some homework on what they offered and then finally they tried to low ball me again. They got nasty when I declined their offer and insulted me for being a newbie and not knowing certain random things. It was really petty and juvenile and I can't believe I'm even wasting time on it here, but other newbies should know that this guy was a total cheap dick. Plain and simple. We should be trying to protect each other from this crap.

I do not think the following rule is made by stupid ppl in the board, plus numerous ppl have gone thru the rules and approve them and I don't think they are stupid either.

Items for Sale:
First Post option: It is common courtesy to sell a priced item to the first person that responds publicly that they will buy the item with no strings attached. You are free to sell the item to the last person that responds, or not deal with specific individuals, but this is generally enough to earn you a reputation as a ?bad reefer?.

Refreshing a rule by the board is not a stupid ppl.

I can feel that you get burned by trying to be nice guy but labelling ppl is not nice by itself. Venting should have its limit.

Wingo ,you cant read i see ..
it states the person t hat came up with dibs is stupid ,period

its dumb childish ,,do you go to Mcdonald or sushi and call dibs ,maybe you go to guess and call dibs on a a pair of jeans

Dibs

BTW, I see variants of "dibs" on almost every reef site I visit. Whether the person uses "dibs!", "I'm interested" or "put me in line", it all comes down to will the interested party come through, not the terminology he/she used.

Dibs means I want it in my mind. When I say it I mean it! so it comes down to individual integrity. MR members can assess each member by looking at their feedback! anyone with negative feedback would be less likely for me to deal with in general.

Ronen your vendor experience is not the same as individual hobbists on the site. You do much more business here and are obviously going to come across more bad transactions more regularly.

i agree!.now why would calling dibs be childish?i would assume that a person calling dibs with no intention of following through is childish and immature.if i say dibs then im going to follow up unless there is a specific reason that i cant get to you.but i dont agree with this dib stuff as being childish.i hardly ever get into these types of discussions but sometimes i just read and observe and notice alot of two-face things going on.but again this is a public forum not a cult and you cant expect the same results from everyone old or new.i try to maintain myself in the same manner everyday, unless of course i get pissed off.

people want rules only when its convienant for them. thats a fact of life. its like the police, love them when you need them and they are there for you. hate them when they arent there and blame them for whatever happened or the classic wheres a cop when you need one

THIS CRAP SMELLS A LOT LIKE THE LAST LINE!!!

guys there is nothing in black in white that says you have to do anything. in fact it says "its common coutesy", A,K,A meaning we do not have to do anything if its otherwise. it is a crock. do not count on the site or its mods to be able to regulate it. get over it. people will do what people want to do. you want something done, set up a system with consequences for there actions and then you will have a different board in regards to this. not before hand it will be the same old stuff. politics and thats it. i personally have tried to buy things where i was 1st to buy it and was told i sold it to my friend so and so. so what! what can you do? nada. the whole dibs thing is a joke with no consequences. if someone jumps in and says dibs and does not own up to it. there should be something that should be done to that individual for screwing the seller an maybe another reefer who was serious enough to buy it. likewise if the seller screws with the sale. otherwise someone please break out the violins for this melo drama bull $hit.

As for the feedback system, I feel that most members have under use it, because I think too many members trying to be nice by not leaving negative feedback for anyone even though they have been burned. We have seen so many venting threads but hardly did we see any negative feedbacks.

If we use the feedback properly, extensively, and fairly, it will help to maintain proper trading ethics.

It's not just about "dibbing."
It's not just about "guaging interest."
To me, the issue is that some people come to this site, exploit it, and not contribute worth a damn. Unappreciative, selfish, and shady. Go elsewhere then. I'd rather have 10 close reef members than 50 who only pop up when something's up.
What makes you think you're a "member?" Cause you filled in a couple of blank lines and listed your email address? .....bahhh.
