This thread went from one topic and jumped to the topic of dibs. Sadly the original topic was left behind after the 6th or so post.

Reread the first post! We don't need 3 pages of arguments about dibs, dib history, the evolution of dibs, and examples of where dibs are found and their impact on society or what dibs do on their vacation time or their favorite color/food....Nor do we need posts bashing other people.

Sorry for the rant. Tired of seeing threads put out there then turn into a stupid argument race for post numbers or a bash fest. Why can't the book forums get as many hits a day as this post did in a few hours or some other constructive post put out there about something about the hobby? Somethings wrong.....

I agree with ronen. That dibs is a childish word. I used to say it when I was younger. Depending on the person whether the buyer is young or an adult. I think the adults should use a more proper term such as I'm interested or I will take it. And the young ones whatever they choose. As when I read DIBS! In a sale thread I see that person acting as a child with a big smile on their face thinking to themselves YES ITS ALL MINE!

i dont get it why is calling dibs childish man.i guess that people will be calling me childish all day if i post dibs, then i must be some kid?i spend money here just like everyone else and its reflected in my reefer rating!what this is showing that ppl are putting petty things under the microscope, when the real problem is being over looked please read froogie's post as he hit it on the head.im 31 with 2 kids one getting set to start HS.it doesnt matter what term you use "COME THROUGH".and if you deal with some fool who dont care about you or anything else then let it be known.if someone screw me guess what i will put you on front street and i wont care about how you feel.bottom line is get together and make this $h!^ work.and if your a vendor or your not sure ask around.if people can use the PMs to trash talk someone or page your "man" about how this guy lives, then you can alway ask hey who is this guy and whats he about.

Books are for nerds! :)

I hate it when people low ball me with pm's. Do it in the thread...so everyone can see that you are a low baller.

Another rant...freebies are always taken by the same members. Not that I'm interested but give other members a chance.

the reason these threads go on and never stop ,is becuase nothing is done about what ppl talk about .,,,if its BIDS <Low balling or bashing ,

venting is nice ,but actions speak louder then words

Here's what I propose. If you want to post on the Sale/Trade forum, you better be donor member. Offers are made in public, info are exchanged in PMs. This way, help weed out the cheapos who use the forum once and disappear, and keep stupid people who call dibs and don't follow through.

T you know I like to joke around and I also like to fly off the handle and that I have hijacked plenty of threads and put them so off topic you need a GPS to get back to where it's supposed to be. Thanks for reminding of the topic.

Guys the MR-Ebay effect was the topic of the thread. Dibs was not created by Ink and it is just a word. As a matter of fact I think the re-birth of and re-introduction of dibs back into adult society was from ad guy who applied it to a Taco Bell Commercial. If I remember correctly that is when it started to become big on this site again. Hey maybe Ink liked taco bell alot and it impressed itself in his mind so much that it became a staple part of his vocabulary, WE WILL NEVER KNOW THIS BECAUSE OF OTHER OFF TOPIC THINGS THAT WILL NOT BE BROUGHT UP HERE! It's like me using Bro and Dude all the time. People just don't repeat those words when I say them as when Dibs came out.

MOds close the thread cause this is getting to the point where I am gonna flip and give pieces of my mind to people who surely cannot handle it.

So much for a thread to help out. Instead it fvkd us up that much more

How do we deal with people that made made a deal on the for sale forum with pickup scheduled, then later sells the item(s) to someone else because they offered more $$( I assume that is the reason).

There should be no postings of "I am interested in selling", I think they are more like asking "how much you are willing to pay for my crap, I will sale to the highest offer". All sale post should have a price set, you should know what you have paid and how much you want to get back.

CLOSED at Chiefs Request.

Regarding Dibs.
It means nothing here. You can say dibs all you want, till you put a deposit on the item or pay in full it means NOTHING.
