Quick question for anyone who doses B-Ionic. I was wondering if anyone doses anything else with that. For ex. Magnesium, iodine, or stronium. I know the 2 parts carries trace elements but I was just curious if anyone supplemented anything else. Thanks

ESV Strontium Chloride Solution
additives_esv_strontium_chloride.jpg
ESV Strontium Chloride Solution is a very pure and concentrated form of strontium, free of phosphates and nitrates. The aquarist should be aware that Strontium Chloride does not add bicarbonate and carbonate ions to the system. Since most calcifying organisms require these ions in addition to strontium ions, the aquarist should monitor alkalinity frequently when using Strontium Chloride and make the proper adjustments with a buffer additive. Exactly how strontium suplementation benefits marine aquaria is a subject open for debate. Some have demonstrated its effectiveness in precipitating orthophosphate from the water column. This could result in less problem algae blooms and enhanced calcification of corals and coralline algae by lowering phosphates, which has been shown to "poison" calcification. Others have speculated that less energy is required for calcifying organisms to extract strontium carbonate than calcium carbonate because of greater insolubility. Regardless of the mechanism involved, there is strong anecdotal evidence that marine aquaria dosed with Strontium Chloride show increased growth rates of coralline algae and hard corals. There have been reports of suspected strontium toxicity to aquarium inhabitants when large doses were applied, so we recommend that the aquarist not exceed maximum recommended dose.

Bah! I think that part one and two are plenty with the occasional Mg if your salt mix can't keep up. As for the others do you guys dose them because ESV sells them or because you've seen better results with them? The bottle pretty much says "we don't know if this does anything"

ESV Bionic (Ca & Alk - 2 part solution)
ESV Magnesium
ESV strontium Chloride
ESV Bromide Fluoride
ESP Potassium Iodide

I own all these, but don't dose all of them. Only mag and a calcium reactor for calcium/alk. I personally feel that the Strontium/Bromide are possibly helpful, but there are plenty of great looking tanks without them. I may end up dosing these other guys if and only if the colors on my corals start to shape up. Too much of a risk overdosing. Trying to keep it simple at the moment.
