Some cool shots of rose after he relocated. Also cool shots of what a ten will look like after a few years of maturing.

nice tank  i personally wouldnt buy acans if they were in the $5 frag tank unless they were some of the awesome ones, but for the most part, why not get blastos. i should buy blastos and resell them for $50 a polyp.

Yeah, I was just kidding about that, but I do have some blastos and love em!

They seem to be getting pretty exspensive though..... Guess all corals are.

That's some pretty impressive growth for blue torts - good job.

BTW, that damsel you asked about (previous page) is a Talbot's Damsel (Chrysiptera talboti) if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah I didnt realize how much it grew until I compared the pics... Cant believe thats only two months worth and under 70 watts of metal halide vs the 400 they were under.

Is a Talbot hard to come by cause before this purchase id never seen one?

At that growth rate it won't be long until you're in for some good trades or LFS credit with those frags.

I don't think Talbot's are all that uncommon - but to be honest I've never really looked for them, so I'm not really sure about that. I had one in a softie reef about 7 years ago (gave him away when I moved the tank).

Can you give us some specs on your tank (filtration, maintenance, feeding, lighting schedule, etc.)?

I think what I might do is as they grow break the stems off and glue them in the general area of the current tort frags and just get a nice thick colony going.

BUT I would get quite a bit in store credit I would think.

The general specs are as follows:

10 gallon
70 watts 10000k 36 watts "super" actinic
3 years old
250 Aquaclear hob (for flow only)
2 microjets 120 gph (est)
25-30 lbs live rock (est)
Southdown (substrate)

I dont have any protein skimmer or any other fancy media for filtration. I do one gallon water changes every week with or without a 1/4 tea of calcium depending on what salt im using. I use kalk with vinegar in my auto top off to maintain ca and alk.

Thats pretty much all there is to it.

I have 4 fish currently and over 30 different corals.

It looks great Mike. Keep us updated with pics as things progress.

Is that caulerpa in there intentionally or did it just come in on your rock?

That is teacup and it sprouted up one day 8 months ago from live rock that I had for years......... It grows really fast and then dies off really fast and just keeps cycling.

I take new pics about once per month and post them on about 7 boards including this one. I think its a great little tank and love sharing with everyone.

I decided to frag my purple digita not because it was too big but I knew that in its current spot it would and I wanted to change the aquascape there a little anyhow. I decided that I would frag and mount in a way that would produce a thick well encrusted colony that wouldnt threaten its neighbors. Fragging sps is pretty easy.

  1. break
  2. superglue
  3. stick in place
  4. done
  5. drink beer

Heres the shots to show you what it looked like sorta.

Well I was doing some cleaning in my tank amd all of a sudden this thick white stuff stuffing comes from under my live rock. I have seen macro go sexual but this was a pearl white substance and I had no idea what it could be coming from.. I watched for a minute and I started seeing bristle worms popping their heads out of the live rock and shooting a white substance into the tank. I have to assume that this is sperm although I have never seen or heard of this happening before. I couldnt get pics of them doing it as it happened so quickly but I did get pics of the after effects.

Also since we are on the subject I took a shot of bottom of my tank. I love how you can see the tunnels from different animals in the sand.
