I am thinking about getting out of reefing for a while. My tank is finally looking OK and no aglae. I am bored of the way it looks and have no idea on what to do wth it. I was looking at it the other night and started to think about this. Maybe I need fish of more corals but I just dont know what I should put in there.

My nano is almost gone and the FW tank is easy enough to just add water and food with little maintenece of w/c's every other month and etc.

Rob, you finally won the algae battle and now you wanna quit again? :P You're nuts, dude 8) Add some fish .... they're much more exiting then an invert-only tank. Throw in a few more frags and watch them grow. Once they get bigger, you'll appreciate the tank more.

Change your rockwork around and trade your stock for different stock.

Ooops.. - I mean, good idea... - Ship everything to me and I'll hold it for you. ;)

What frags? I dont know what I want and I dont want plain ordinary corals either.

Fish is another story. I still dont know what to put in there.

You know what you need? Add some nitrate to your tank, and get some serious algae going. That should keep you in this hobby a bit longer... ;)

One problem with the fish is the LFS are horrible around here. They dont carry much except for clowns, damsels, and fish I cant have like tangs and FO type fish. The frag selection is less then desired as well. I was thinking about ordering some frags online but am affraid to order fish online.

Rob - a small Tomini or Kole tang would be fine in a 58g for a few years. It would likely just max out at only 5". The Tomini is a very attractive fish.

Also, look into collecting some of the brightly colored LPS out there. They'll be much easier to maintain coloration and growth than SPS. Just be careful not to overspend, as most might still be priced according to trend. Most of it isn't rare.

Hey - no algae! :)

I actually think you have a pretty good amount of coral for now - it'll grow.

There are so many cool fish - how far away is the nearest decent LFS? Maybe you need a great summer road trip!

the LFS are not that great. There selections are as boring as my tank.

Come to Atlanta, we have some great LFSs! :D

There's also the GA Aquarium!

There's a lot of blennies to consider. Gobies also. And my Centropyge argi really hates corals and I would suggest one as well, as they are very interesting and big-swimming fish! And I definitely second the LPS suggestion! I love the motion that takes place in mixed reefs.

Just some ideas, but Atlanta would be your best bet! 8)

I got some frogspawn in there but thats gotten played and they grow too much/fast. The wesophelia hasn;t grown in 3 years.

What kind of LPS?

Rob, do you snorkel or scuba dive? I find that after so many months my enthusiasm for my tank definitely declines. But when I go diving and see all of the amazing life on a real reef it makes me want to go home and spruce up my tank again. Maybe you need a little trip to "find yourself" :D . Or at least a trip to an aquarium might help.

I do need a vacation. In November we are probably going to go to the Carribean.

If I could see some fish / corals upclose maybe I would be OK with that. I dont trust the photocrop sites and cant tell the personality of the fish from a still pic.

Dont get rid of your tank. That would be like just learning to ride a motorcycle you paid an arm and a leg for then saying "I can ride it now, I guess I'll get rid of it." You simply need a couple weird fish to look at.

I like Physogyras, Plerogyras, Cataphyllias, Gonioporas, and Tubiporas.

You could even get a hammer that has opposing colors to your frogspawn to create contrast. Well, the hammer is also my favorite Euphyllia.
