So yesterday, I thought that there was too much evaportation, but filled my sump up as normal. I awoke this morning to find the sump once again low and this time noticed that it is leaking. The sump is made out of a 30 gallon long and it appears that the seal on the base of it is gone. Water is coming up from the bottom frame of the tank, and there are clearly no cracks. Is there an epoxy that I can use as a temporary solution, or as is more likely should I take today off and build a new sump.

thank you for the early morning help guys/ I am taking off to make needed repairs today, and may even build a new sump. Quick question, does anyone know what the best glue would be to attach acrylic to glass?

Well, I have been doing research all morning and then driving around all afternoon. My busted sump was a converted 30 g long and did use acrylic to glass with silicone. Didn't have any major problems with it. A small leak in a baffle against the side was the only real problem. The problem leak today actually came from the factory seal of the tank. But obviously, I need to make my new sump a better and sturdier version, so here is what I am up to, pics and progress will be posted. I have purchased Mr. Sticky's underwater glue, carried by a pool store, but is also sold by Dr. Foster's and Smith. It is the American version of Titan Bostik Plus, which seems to be the glue to use when doing plastic to glass. Here is the site, which recommended it > http://ozreef.org/diy_plans/techniques/gluing_acrylic.html

The pool store had a demo piece of some pvc glued to brickwork, the stuff looks pretty strong. I am too lazy to make a sump from scratch and would much rather just get a few pieces of acrylic cut and use them in a 30 long for baffles. I will keep you posted on the use of this glue, and how it goes.
